    摘要: A programmable controller includes a CPU unit, a communication unit and peripheral units connected together through an internal bus. The communication unit has a bus master function, including a cache memory for recording IO data stored in the memory of an input-output unit. When a message is received, it is judged whether the IO data stored in the memory of the input-output unit specified by this message is updated or not. If the data are not updated, a response is created based on the IO data stored in the IO data stored in the cache memory. If the data are updated, the input-output unit is accessed and updated IO data are obtained and a response is created based on the obtained IO data.

    摘要: An industrial control system device that can be utilized for drive control, process control and/or logic control and which is comprised of a unique combination of hardware and software. Use of one or more of the devices in an industrial control system application permits the control system to be partitioned into subsystems which communicate with one another and which operate as self-contained units. Each subsystem can be further subdivided into modules that have distinct operating functions. The software utilized by the control system device separates the required operating functions of the control system into distinct tasks that operate concurrently (multi-tasking) on a priority level basis while sharing system data and control signals. Three programming languages (BASIC, Control Block, Ladder Logic) are employed so that the most appropriate language can be utilized for each task. Processors can be added to the industrial control system to permit the movement of a task from processor to processor (multi-processing) without reprogramming.

    摘要: A rack adapter for a programmable controller is included in each of four remotely located I/O interface racks that are connected in series to a central processor. The rack adapter includes a rack interface processor under program control which converts serial data received from the central processor to parallel data that is written into I/O modules in its rack. The rack interface processor also converts parallel data from I/O modules to serial data, which is sent back to the central processor through a select data out circuit in proper sequence with data from the other racks. The rack interface processor initiates the decontrol of machines connected to the four racks if a major transmission fault occurs, but the rack interface processor is tolerant to transmission errors caused by electrical noise. A dual-frequency clock drives the rack interface processor, and interface circuitry which is operable at two bit-transmission rates connects the rack interface processor to the communication channel, which can range up to 10,000 feet from the central processor.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a processing module for a modular automation system, for instance a modular stored-programmable control, in which the automation system includes a central unit and peripheral units such as input/output modules, subordinate to the central unit. The peripheral units can be coupled to each other via a device bus. A processing module comprises a processor, a memory, a blockable bus coupling element which can be coupled to the device bus, and a blockable central unit coupling element which can be coupled to the central unit, all of which are connected to each other via a module bus that is internal in the processing module. The processing module has a communication interface which is connected with the processor. In this way the central unit can be relieved to a considerable extent of communication activity.

    摘要: A programmable controller with a processor module, one or more I/O modules and a rack in which the modules are supported, is expanded by replacing the processor module in a lead slot with a rack adapter module that connectes to a separate processor unit. The rack unit is converted from a controller rack to one of several I/O interface racks that can be connected to the separate processor unit. The removable processor module integrates the processing functions of the separate processor unit and the parity checking, decoding and buffering functions of the rack adapter module. The rack enclosure provides a universal connecter between the I/O modules and the module selected for insertion into the lead slot.
