摘要: An image forming apparatus according to an aspect of the present disclosure includes a fixing device and a controller. The fixing device includes a fixing member, a pressure member, a heating member, and a temperature sensor. The controller cuts off power supply to the heating member when the temperature detected by the temperature sensor has risen to a cutoff temperature higher than the target temperature and thereafter resumes power supply to the heating member when the detected temperature has fallen below the cutoff temperature, and performs the PID control while limiting a maximum power supplied to the heating member to an upper limit power, which is a power supplied to the heating member at the time when the detected temperature has risen to the cutoff temperature, during a period from when power supply is resumed until a predetermined specific period of time elapses.

摘要: A media path moves media sheets from a media supply, a print engine receives the media sheets from the media path, and a sensor detects a characteristic related to the media sheets. A drive nip continuously moves the media sheets, and a stall nip receives the media sheets from the drive nip. The stall nip is positioned less than the length of one of the media sheets from the drive nip. The stall nip alternately stops or moves the media sheets while the drive nip continuously moves the media sheets, as controlled by a controller, to cause the media sheets to buckle between the drive nip and the stall nip. The controller controls when to stop or move the media sheets to constantly vary the size of the buckle, and thereby make the buckle relatively larger for a first characteristic and make the buckle relatively smaller for a different characteristic.

摘要: An image forming apparatus includes an intermediate transfer belt and a developer unit. The image forming apparatus includes a cooling unit, a cleaning roller, and an auxiliary brush. The cooling unit cools a predetermined component by sending air by a fan inside the image forming apparatus. The cleaning roller removes remaining toner on the intermediate transfer belt at an upstream side of a region facing the developer unit in a rotationally moving direction of the intermediate transfer belt and at an upstream side of a region with which the image carrier is in contact in the intermediate transfer belt. The auxiliary brush located on an outer surface of the developer unit so as to close the clearance between the intermediate transfer belt and the developer unit and is in contact with the intermediate transfer belt to clean the intermediate transfer belt.

The controller makes an absolute value of the primary transfer bias applied to the downstream side primary transfer member larger than an absolute value of the primary transfer bias applied to the upstream side primary transfer member. The controller lowers an absolute value of the secondary transfer bias when the recording medium separates from the first guide member.

摘要: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of suppressing an increase in the cost of a process cartridge and capable of reducing image defects caused by replacement of the process cartridge.A process cartridge including a charging roller and a developing unit is attachable to and detachable from an image forming apparatus. A development temperature sensor is disposed in the developing unit. An in-device temperature sensor is disposed outside the process cartridge inside the image forming apparatus. In the case where a temperature detected by the development temperature sensor is lower than a temperature detected by the in-device temperature-humidity sensor, a peak-to-peak voltage of an alternating-current voltage applied to the charging roller is set based on the result of detection by the development temperature sensor.
