    摘要: There are provided an optical compensation film including an alignment film whose adhesiveness to a substrate and a liquid crystal layer and alignment property are excellent when a novel substrate is used to solve the problem regarding deteriorated durability being caused when a retardation film including a liquid crystal film is used under a hot and humid environment, and an integrated polarizing plate comprising the same. The O-plate includes a substrate; an alignment film prepared by coating the substrate with a composition for an alignment film that is composed of polyvinyl alcohol, a multifunctional acrylate monomer, a compatibilizing agent, a photo initiator and a solvent, followed by undergoing drying, curing and rubbing processes; and a splay-aligned liquid crystal film formed on the alignment film.

    摘要: Novel optical compensation films are disclosed. One embodiment of the films is an optical compensation film wherein d satisfies the equation of d=−0.0115×Rth+3.0 d (μm) or is within the range of ±10% thereof, in which d (μm) is a thickness of the optically anisotropic layer and Rth (nm) is the retardation of only the transparent support in the thickness direction. Another embodiment of the films is an optical compensation film wherein a (deg.) and b (deg.) are within the ranges of 20≦a≦80 and 20≦b≦80, and satisfy the relation of − 5/9×a+45≦b≦− 5/9×a+110, in which a (deg.) is an average of tilt angles of the major axes (the discotic planes) of the discotic compound molecules at an interface between the optically anisotropic layer and the transparent support, and b (deg.) is an average of tilt angles of the major axes (the discotic planes) of the discotic compound molecules at an air interface on the side of a liquid crystal cell.

    摘要: The invention pertains to a normally white super twisted nematic (NW-STN) display comprising a super twisted nematic (STN) display cell and a compensation layer, characterized in that the compensation layer is a twisted liquid crystalline polymer and has an optical retardation (OR) which is 10 to 50% of the OR of the display cell in the off-state, and wherein the absolute value of the twist angle of the compensation layer is between 150° and 10° and is at least 90° smaller that the absolute value of the twist angle of the STN display cell. Preferably, the compensation layer of the NW-STN display is temperature matched with the STN display cell.

    摘要: A transflective liquid crystal display device that can selectively be used in the transmissive mode or the reflective mode. The transflective liquid crystal panel includes a reflective electrode having a transparent portion, a CLC color filter and a CLC polarizer. Light from a backlight device can pass through the transparent portion of the reflective electrode and into the liquid crystal. Moreover, light from the backlight device that is reflected by the reflective electrode can also pass through the transparent portion and into the liquid crystal without being absorbed by the CLC polarizer. The brightness of the transflective LCD device is thus improved.
