Abstract: A new aluminosilicate zeolite designated UZM-50, methods of making the zeolite, and its use as a catalyst in hydrocarbon conversion processes are described. This zeolite is represented by the empirical formula: M+mRrAl1−xExSiyOz where M is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium or combinations thereof, R is the organic structure directing agent or agents derived from reactants R1 and R2 where R1 is an amine essentially incapable of undergoing pyramidal inversion and having 7 or fewer carbon atoms, and R2 is a dihaloalkane, and E is an element selected from the group consisting of gallium, iron, boron and mixtures thereof. UZM-50 has utility in various hydrocarbon conversion reactions such as conversion of an aromatic molecule to another aromatic molecule.

Abstract: The present invention provides a process for the preparation of Teriflunomide (Formula-I). The present invention describes the synthesis of Teriflunomide without isolating the intermediate Leflunomide. Teriflunomide is prepared from 5-Methyl isoxazole-4-carboxylic acid by converting to its acid chloride and coupling with 4-trifluoromethyl aniline to obtain Leflunomide (which is not isolated) followed by ring opening reaction using aq. Sodium Hydroxide to form Teriflunomide. In other words, the process is telescoped from 5-methylisoxazole-4-carbonyl chloride.

Catalysts made from UZM-55 have utility in various hydrocarbon conversion reactions.

Abstract: Provided is a radiation phase difference imaging apparatus in which a separation distance between a phase grating and a radiation detector is optimized. The separation distance between the phase grating and a detection surface of an FPD is determined based on the magnitude of noise corruption in a self-image projected onto the detection surface. The magnitude of the effect of the noise is used as a basis for assessing the separation distance. It is determined whether a distance Zd is appropriate for imaging, based on the magnitude of noise corruption in the self-image in a self-image picture which is obtained when the distance Zd is the distance between the phase grating and the detection surface of the FPD. The separation distance can thus be optimized based on actual conditions of an actual X-ray source that emits a plurality of types of X-rays.

Abstract: Periodic spatial patterns of x-ray illumination are used to gather information about periodic objects. The structured illumination may be created using the interaction of a coherent or partially coherent x-ray source with a beam splitting grating to create a Talbot interference pattern with periodic structure. The object having periodic structures to be measured is then placed into the structured illumination, and the ensemble of signals from the multiple illumination spots is analyzed to determine various properties of the object and its structures. Applications to x-ray absorption/transmission, small angle x-ray scattering, x-ray fluorescence, x-ray reflectance, and x-ray diffraction are all possible using the method of the invention.
