    摘要: A method for enhancing a sensitivity of an optical sensor having an optical cavity counter-propagates beams of pump light within the optical cavity to produce scattered light based on Stimulated Brillouin Scattering (SBS). The properties of the pump light are selected to generate fast-light conditions for the scattered light, such that the scattered light includes counter-propagating beams of fast light. The method prevents the pump light from resonating within the optical cavity, while allowing the scattered light to resonate within the optical cavity. At least portions of the scattered light are interfered outside of the optical cavity to produce a beat note for a measurement of the optical sensor. The disclosed method is particularly applicable to optical gyroscopes.

    摘要: Systems and methods for fabricating capacitive discharge electrodes for a ring laser gyroscope are disclosed. In one example, a laser block for generating a laser in a closed loop path comprises a laser block, wherein an optically closed loop path is formed within the laser block. Additionally, at least two electrodes are formed on the laser block, wherein the at least two electrodes are used in conjunction with a radio frequency power supply to create an electric potential in the laser block which generates at least one laser beam in the closed loop path. The at least two electrodes are manufactured by placing a paste composition on the laser block and securing the paste composition to the laser block. The paste composition also includes a conductive material.

    摘要: In a laser gyroscope, an activation wheel has a polygonal cylindrical hub formed by continuous assembly of vertical walls, wherein two adjacent walls of the cylindrical hub between them form a dihedron. Each radial plate of the activation wheel is connected to the cylindrical hub along the edge of a dihedron. The walls are formed with bulging portions, serving for plane-to-plane fixing of one face of the tulip to an optical block, and thin parts allowing a radial displacement degree of freedom of the fixing parts relative to the rim when there is a differential thermal expansion between the tulip and activation wheel. The activation wheel may be produced in a material having a thermal expansion coefficient higher than the tulip, for example steel, with plane-to-plane fixing of the tulip to the activation wheel hub, advantageously by screws, the assembly effectively accommodating the thermal expansion differential between the two materials.

    摘要: A ring laser gyroscope (RLG) includes moveable minors and a Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) actuator coupled to the moveable minors to cause a respective displacement thereof that induces a phase modulation on counter-propagating light beams relative to one another. The induced phase modulation creates an optical path difference between the counter-propagating light beams corresponding to a virtual rotation that reduces the lock-in of the RLG.
