Abstract: The micrometer adjustable ram is used within a frame having die mount and lever. A die is releasably secured within the die mount and a firearm cartridge is releasably secured to the end of the ram for resizing or bullet reseating. In operation, the ram extends into an extended position and the cartridge held at the end of the ram is inserted into the die held within the die mount. To adjust the length of the cartridge that is inserted into the die and thereby the amount of resizing and seating done to the cartridge, a micrometer assembly is provided within the ram that can be adjusted by the reloader. Furthermore, the micrometer assembly can be locked prior to use to assure that the ram, and cartridge held thereon, are coaxially aligned with the center axis of the die for more precise and repeatable resizing and reloading.

Abstract: An ammunition cartridge comprised of a projectile inserted in, and mechanically connected to, a metal cartridge case assembly having a propulsion chamber and a base, and an energetic propellant disposed in the propulsion chamber, includes a base plug in which is mounted an igniter with an energetic primer. During manufacture of the cartridge, a fusible support ring is incorporated into a metal cavity. The cartridge base includes a cavity allowing the fusible material to solidify at ambient temperatures. When exposed to heat from an external fire, the fusible support plug liquefies losing its strength and subsequently, when a propellant or primer off-gasses or auto-ignites the pressure from the reaction ejects a metal plug or lid from the cartridge case base, creating a void that allows the propellant and primer to combust in an unconfined space.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods associated with an enclosure or structure including two sections that are adapted with a snap-fit interlocking structure. Various embodiments of the enclosure or structures are formed with various case hardening or embrittlement processes to increase embrittlement or hardness of the enclosure or structure so as to create a structure or enclosure which has a desired fragmentation capacity while still maintaining sufficient material properties to permit snap-fit insertion of one section into another section and withstand substantial impacts. Embodiments also provide an interlocking structure that minimizes differences in fragmentation or fracturing capacity as contrasted with other portions of the structure or enclosure. An embodiment of the invention includes an enclosure where one section of the enclosure or structure has a first thickness and the second section has a second thickness, wherein the first and second thicknesses are different. In some embodiments, one section is thinner than another section.

Abstract: The present invention provides an injection molded primer insert for polymer ammunition comprising: a top surface opposite a bottom surface; a primer flash hole aperture positioned in the top surface extending through to the bottom surface; a substantially cylindrical coupling element extending away from the bottom surface forming an interior surface inside the substantially cylindrical coupling element and an exterior surface; a primer recess in the top surface that extends toward the bottom surface, a primer flash aperture positioned in the primer recess to extend through the bottom surface, and a flange that extends circumferentially about an outer edge of the top surface, wherein the flange is adapted to receive a polymer overmolding.

Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention provides a polymeric ammunition comprising: a substantially cylindrical insert; a substantially cylindrical polymeric middle body comprising a substantially cylindrical polymeric bullet-end opposite a substantially cylindrical polymeric coupling end connected by a powder chamber, wherein the substantially cylindrical polymeric coupling end extends over the substantially cylindrical coupling element and covers an circumferential surface and into the primer flash hole aperture to form a primer flash hole; and a substantially cylindrical open-ended polymeric bullet-end component connected to the substantially cylindrical polymeric bullet-end and opposite a bullet-end aperture; a propellant at least partially filling the powder chamber; a primer inserted into the primer flash hole aperture; and a bullet frictionally fitted in the bullet-end aperture, wherein the primer, the propellant and the bullet form a sealed propellant chamber.
