Abstract:
A supercritical steam generator includes a downdraft furnace enclosure, a hopper tunnel, and a convection pass enclosure, with the hopper tunnel joining the downdraft furnace enclosure and convection pass enclosure together. Flue gas passes down through the downdraft furnace enclosure through the hopper tunnel and up through the convection pass enclosure. This structure permits the outlet steam terminals, which provide access to the resultant supercritical steam and/or reheat steam, to be located at a base of the steam generator rather than at the top of the steam generator as with conventional boilers. This reduces the length of the steam leads from the steam generator to a steam turbine that produces electricity using the supercritical steam.
Abstract:
A system for providing thermal power to an electrical power plant wherein substantially whole trees are supplied as fuel without being processed into small woodchips or chunks. A stacked cooling grate suspends the substantially whole trees within the combustion chamber. The cooling grate is formed by stacking an upper tube and at least one lower tube vertically beneath the upper tube. The tubes of the cooling grate are supplied with water to cool the grate.
Abstract:
A forced-circulation steam generator with a combustion chamber (1) that has a cone (2), whereby the combustion chamber is demarcated by piping walls with at least partly slanting pipes, the cone is composed of piping walls (9, 10, 11, and 12) with upright pipes, and the pipes in the combustion chamber are separated from the pipes in the cone by headers. The two series of pipes are separated such that the medium flowing through the pipes in the combustion chamber has the same enthalpy.
Abstract:
In a steam generator having a combustion chamber defined by tubes forming a generally flat bottom wall and tubes forming upwardly extending side walls, means are provided in the general plane of the bottom wall forming entrance locations at which fluid medium enters the bottom wall tubes. The entrance locations are disposed substantially along vector lines arranged such that substantially all of the bottom wall tubes are each provided with two 90 degree turns in passing between its respective entrance location and said side walls and wherein the length of each of said bottom wall tubes is substantially equal.
