Abstract: A female component for a tubular hydrocarbon working string subjected to dynamic bending strength includes a tapered female threading cooperating with a male threading to form a rigid mutual connection of tubular elements, a free end and female sealing surface disposed between the free end and the female threading, the female sealing surface to contact in a made up condition with a male sealing surface to form a metal-metal seal, and an annular groove provided between the free end and the female sealing surface, leaving an axial distance greater than zero between the free end and a transition region outwardly of the female sealing surface, and a radial distance greater than zero between the female sealing surface and a chamfer at the free end, the groove including borders formed by the chamfer and a portion of the transition region protecting the female sealing surface prior to makeup.

Abstract: A threaded joint for steel pipes that includes a pin and a box. The pin has an externally threaded portion, a nose, and a shoulder portion. The box has an internally threaded portion, a sealing surface, and a shoulder portion. The outer circumferential surface of the nose of the pin has an outward convex curved shape, and the sealing surface of the box has a tapered shape. Additionally, the cross-sectional area of the pin at a seal point is 35% or more of the cross-sectional area of an original pipe portion corresponding to an unprocessed portion of the pin, the seal point being a portion on the pin that first comes into contact with the sealing surface of the box when the pin and the box are joined.

Abstract: A torque-less threaded connection is shown for connecting a drill tool to a drill string for use in horizontal directional drilling operations. An up-hole end portion has a female, box end opening with a non-threaded, slightly tapered first circumferential surface having a first median inner diameter; a non-threaded, slightly tapered second circumferential surface having a second inner diameter that is larger than the first diameter. A threaded tapered section extends between the first and second circumferential surfaces. The threaded tapered section has threads thereon which make up a multi-lead thread form. The downhole end portion of the coupling has mating external pin surfaces for engaging the internal surfaces of the up-hole end portion. A torque collar slides over portions of the up-hole and downhole end portions and prevents relative rotation between the downhole and up-hole portions and prevents toque from being transmitted to the threaded portions of the connection.

Abstract: A method for making large pressure vessels using a composite over-wrap process and a soluble mandrel structure that is scalable to a much larger vessel size than can normally be accommodated by the over-wrap process. The method allows the production of very large, lightweight vessels with no seams and no metal liners. Abstract: An embodiment of the invention is a cryo-connector, a connector that allows for the delivery and return of a cryogen in an axial configuration. In one embodiment, the connector is a tri-axial configuration allowing for the delivery and return of pressurized cryogen as well as the application of an independent vacuum in the third lumen. Various configurations, however, may accommodate any number of luminary spaces such that cryogen (or other fluids) and/or vacuum spaces may be created in a fashion complementary to the components that the connector will affix to and interconnect with. The connectors can be utilized with any low temperature, cryogenic device and at varying pressures.
