Abstract:
Valve seats include a flexible arm portion configured to seal against a portion of a valve body of a valve. A ball valve may include such valve seats. Methods of forming a seal in a ball valve include forcing a first metal valve scat into sealing contact with a first end cap and a ball valve member with a first metal flexible arm member and forcing a second metal valve seat into sealing contact with a second end cap and the ball valve member with a second metal flexible arm member.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a valve for connection to a pressurized gas cylinder. The valve includes a housing including a gas cylinder aperture which is connectable to a gas cylinder, and a housing conduit which extends through the housing from the gas cylinder aperture to one or more inlet/outlet apertures so that the valve is capable of providing fluid communication between the gas cylinder through the housing conduit and the one or more inlet/outlet apertures. A flow control ball within the housing conduit is movable between open and closed positions. Ball seals have sealing surfaces corresponding to a shape of the flow control ball for substantially sealing the flow control ball in the housing conduit. Other features include components for mounting the ball seals though one of the inlet/outlet apertures; components for mounting a stem to the flow control ball including bearings; live ports; a tube which can be removably connectable from the rest of the housing; provision for receiving an EFV and/or a PRD in the valve housing; and at least one of the ball seals and stem bearings being comprised of special polymeric material including polyetherimide or polyaryletherketone.
Abstract:
A bypass device used in conjunction with a gas meter has a normal mode and a bypass mode. In the normal mode, the bypass device routes gas through the gas meter to a customer. In the bypass mode, the bypass device routes gas through a bypass path so that the gas meter can be serviced or replaced without interrupting gas service to the customer. Manual operating ball valves select either the normal mode or the bypass mode. Each ball valve includes a rotatable diverter ball with a 90° flow passage. Each diverter ball is mounted within the bypass device between pair of polymer annular valve seats.
Abstract:
A seal assembly is provided for a rotary ball valve having a top-mounted bonnet, thereby allowing the seal assembly to be installed and removed without removing the valve from the pipeline. In an embodiment, the seal assembly may include a seal ring disposed within the valve interior and biased toward the ball element of the valve. A seal carrier may be disposed between the seal ring and the valve body, and the seal carrier may be removably secured to the valve body by a plurality of bolts disposed in the valve interior. A primary leak path may exists between the seal ring and the seal carrier and a secondary leak path may exists between the seal carrier and the valve body. A first and second auxiliary seal may prevent fluid flow through the primary and secondary leak path, respectively.
Abstract:
A ball valve comprises a housing, a first seat surface, a second seat surface, and a ball rotatably movable within the housing. The ball contacts at least one of the first seat surface and the second seat surface to form a seal within the ball valve. The first seat surface and the second seat surface are fixed relative to each other, and pressure acting in a first direction and in a second direction opposite the first direction increases the contact pressure of the first seat surface and the second seat surface with the ball.

A ball valve comprises a housing, a first seat surface, a second seat surface, wherein the first seat surface and the second seat surface are fixed relative to each other, and a ball rotatably movable within the housing and contacting at least one of the first seat surface and the second seat surface to form a seal within the ball valve; wherein pressure acting in a first direction and in a second direction opposite the first direction increases the contact pressure of the first seat surface and the second seat surface with the ball.
Abstract:
A novel collection device for collection, storage and disposal of biological products, in conjunction with an improved cleansing method. Disclosed is an apparatus which includes a locking closing member handle to allow for safe transport and disposal of medical waste. Closing member allows for secure containment of medical waste and subsequent apparatus cleaning. Closing member design includes a gap between closing member and housing which facilitates device cleaning after waste disposal.
Abstract:
A ball valve seat arrangement is provided that permits relief of cavity pressure. The arrangement includes a valve body for receiving a resilient annular seat. First passages in the seat provide communication between the valve cavity, and a space formed between the seat and the valve body. When the cavity pressure reaches a certain level, a sealing point between the seat and the valve body is lost. Communication is thereby provided between the space and the valve passage to achieve cavity pressure relief.
Abstract:
Embodiments and methods are disclosed herein that relate to a valve assembly. The valve assembly includes a housing having a passage formed therethrough, and a valve ball having a through hole and disposed in the housing, in which the valve ball is rotatable between an open position that has the through hole aligned with the passage and a closed position that has the through hole misaligned with the passage. The valve assembly further includes a seat having a first tapered surface and disposed in the housing adjacent to the valve ball, wherein the seat is biased towards the valve ball, and a seat holder having a second tapered surface and disposed in the housing adjacent to the seat such that the first tapered surface of the seat is disposed adjacent to the second tapered surface of the seat holder.
Abstract:
A ball valve includes a valve element and a single piece packing that seals the valve element within a valve cavity. The single piece packing is pulled over the valve element at room temperature or may be molded on. The valve element may include a flow control element such as a ball and upper and lower trunnions. The lower trunnion may extend past a lower end of the packing.
