    Abstract: A sliding component includes: a dynamic pressure generation groove provided in a sliding surface of the sliding component, the dynamic pressure generation groove having a first end forming a closed end and a second end forming an inlet communicating with any one side of a sealed fluid side and a leakage side in a radial direction; and a deep groove provided in the sliding surface and deeper than the dynamic pressure generation groove, an inlet 16a of the deep groove communicating with an inlet of the dynamic pressure generation groove on a side of a side wall of the dynamic pressure generation groove, the side wall being circumferentially opposite to a dynamic pressure generation wall constituting another side wall of the dynamic pressure generation groove.

    Abstract: A gas seal which extends in a circumferential direction in an axis has a rotating slip ring and an axially movable stationary slip ring. A slip sleeve guides the stationary slip ring in the axial movement direction by a first sliding face on a second sliding face. The slip sleeve is fastened to a stator of the gas seal, wherein the slip sleeve has a first recess extending in the circumferential direction, and the stator has a second recess, opposite the first recess in the region of the fastening, extending in the circumferential direction, such that the first recess and the second recess define a common cavity extending in the circumferential direction. In the cavity there is an elongate fixing element which at least partially fills the first recess and the second recess such that an unlimited axial relative movement is only possible when the fixing element is radially deformed.

    Abstract: In an embodiment, a pair of sliding components that slide relative to each other is included. One of the sliding components is a stationary-side seal ring 2, and the other sliding component is a rotating-side seal ring 3. The seal rings 2 and 3 have sliding faces S2 and S3 extending radially, respectively, for sealing sealed fluid against leakage. The sliding faces S2 and S3 are provided with a static pressure groove 22 communicating with a sealing gas supply passage, and pumping grooves 5 capable of controlling the radial flow of sealing gas to a flow from the low-pressure fluid side to the high-pressure fluid side by relative sliding of the sliding faces. By controlling the radial flow of sealing gas at the sliding face, the amount of flow of the sealing gas flowing to the low-pressure fluid side is reduced to improve sealing performance.

    Abstract: In an embodiment, a sliding component includes a pair of sliding parts (a stationary-side seal ring 7 and a rotating-side seal ring 4) that relatively slide on each other and each have a sliding face S formed radially for sealing sealed fluid from leaking. The sliding face S of at least one sliding part is provided with dynamic pressure generation grooves 10 spaced in a non-communicating manner from the sealed-fluid side and the leakage side by lands R of both sliding faces, and is provided with fluid introduction holes 11 between leakage-side ends 10a of the grooves 10 and the leakage side, for communicating the grooves 10 and the leakage side. Each fluid introduction holes 11 is configured such that a dynamic-pressure-generation-groove-side opening 11a open to a corresponding one of the grooves 10 is axially displaced from a leakage-side opening 11b open to the leakage side.

    Abstract: A turbomachine and a method of operating the turbomachine are disclosed. The turbomachine includes a stator, a rotor including a rotor bearing face, a face seal assembly, a first pressure cavity, and a second pressure cavity. The face seal assembly includes a seal ring including a seal bearing face, a first pressure cavity, and a plurality of isolated hydrostatic ports extending from the first pressure cavity to the seal bearing face. The face seal assembly is slidably coupled to the stator and defines a face seal clearance between the rotor and seal bearing faces. The second and third pressure cavities are defined by the stator, the rotor, and the face seal assembly. The third pressure cavity is disposed downstream of the second pressure cavity with reference to flow of a process fluid along the stator and rotor. The first pressure cavity is isolated from the second and third pressure cavities.
