Abstract:
A nut-and-bolt fastener is provided. The nut and bolt are configured with a plurality of interlocking teeth that provide unidirectional travel of the nut with respect to the bolt. In particular, the configuration of the teeth arrest separation of the nut from the bolt while permitting the nut to move toward the head of the bolt into a fastened engagement. The teeth are non-helical and arranged concentrically around the longitudinal axis in evenly-spaced steps or segments along the longitudinal axis and around the shaft of the bolt and bore of the nut. Integral winged washers are provided on the bolt head as well as on the nut. Variations with different rake angles of the teeth as well as an expandable nut are also provided.
Abstract:
A lock-washer of conical, annular or other shapes capable of elastic flattening when the threaded connection, of which it is a part, is tightened and having tabs along the perimeter of the central hole. For most embodiments the tabs' tips form a circle of a diameter slightly larger than that of a threaded part which is to pass through the central hole. When during tightening the axial force acting on the lock-washer reaches a pre-determined level and the lock-washer flattens, its central hole diameter decreases and the tab tips enter the thread channel, which will cause the thread to jam, thus preventing further tightening, thereby limiting the axial load in the threaded connection to a pre-determined level. Another embodiment provides a lock-washer which compresses and expands radially during tightening providing a visual and/or audible signal for the worker when said expansion and a corresponding axial load reach the designated level.
Abstract:
A threaded fastener (10) useful for fastening soft materials over an extended period of time includes a washer (16) having outwardly extending arms (46) received in axially extending channels (52) in an object (60) to be fastened, and a bolt (12) extending through the washer, the bolt having a head including a projection (26) engaging a locking feature (38,40) on the washer to resist relative rotation between the washer and the bolt in a fastened assembly.
Abstract:
A fastener assembly is provided. The fastener assembly includes a nut having an internally threaded portion and an annulus extending from the nut and configured for receiving the shank of an elongate fastener. A compression collar is configured for deflecting the annulus into at least one of fixed engagement with the shank or to impart a spring bias of the annulus against the compression collar upon tightening of the nut about a working surface.
Abstract:
A nut fastener is provided for locking the nut to prevent inadvertent loosening of the nut. The nut fastener is particularly useful for tightening a wheel onto an axle. The nut fastener includes a nut, a collar and a retaining ring. The nut is unlocked by pushing on an engagement surface of the collar or by riding ratchet teeth over each other. When the collar is released, the collar locks against the nut to resist rotation of the nut.
Abstract:
A sealing device in the form of a plug that is receivable in a threaded hole of a case includes a threaded central body, a skirt connected to the central body, and locking/unlocking means that opposes spontaneous unscrewing of the plug and is automatically activated by rotation of the plug and corresponding movement along an axis. The locking/unlocking means includes a first releasable coupling component coupled for rotation with the central body, and a second releasable coupling component facing the first coupling component at least during screwing and unscrewing. In at least in a tightened condition of the plug, the second coupling component is secured against rotation relative to the case by rotation restricting means located inside the threaded bore. In the screwed condition, an annular end face of the skirt bears against a bearing face of the second releasable coupling component to transmit tightening thrust to the case.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an apparatus for attaching a first component to a second component and comprises a base element which has a thread which defines a thread axis; a connection means for direct or indirect connection with shape matching and/or material continuity of the base element to the second component; and an adjustment element which receives the first component and is in threaded engagement with the base element such that the position of the first component is adjustable relative to the second component, viewed in the direction of the thread axis, by a rotation of the adjustment element relative to the base element, with the base element and/or the adjustment element being at least partly elastically deformable such that the adjustment element receives the first component free of clearance and is in threaded engagement with the base element free of clearance.
Abstract:
A fastener arrangement comprising a main body having a driving head, a central bore with an inner thread opening out into a front face of the driving head, and a collar, axially protruding from the front face of the driving head and being coaxially arranged to the inner thread. The fastener arrangement further comprises a spring element axially abutting against the front face of the driving head having a central through hole which is coaxially arranged to the inner thread of the driving head and a bearing element axially abutting against the spring element having a central through hole which is coaxially arranged to the inner thread of the driving head. The collar axially protrudes through the through hole of the spring element and into the through hole of the bearing element, and wherein the collar at its end facing away from the driving head, which end is positioned inside the through hole of the bearing element, provides a locking section radially extending outwardly. The locking section engages into an undercut in the through hole of the bearing element in such a manner that a positive locking in axial direction is established between the collar and the bearing element.
Abstract:
A fastener with an dampener is provided. The dampener is integrated with the fastener thus eliminating the need for an additional dampener installation. The fastener includes a shaft, a head connected to the shaft, and a dampener connected to the head. The dampener includes a piston and a compression chamber that is adapted to reduce vibration and noise when installed between two panels. The dampener is mounted to the underside of the head of a bolt, or to a trim piece. In other embodiments, the dampener is connected to the head of a clip. The dampener is adapted to rest between the head of a bolt and an adjacent panel thereby slightly spacing out the bolt head from the panel, such as sheet metal.
Abstract:
A self-locking screwing attachment device. In one embodiment, the device includes a first element having an inner thread, the first element being screwed onto a threaded tip. In other embodiments, the first element has an outer thread and can either be made of a hollow body or have a closed end so as to constitute, for instance, a borescope.
