摘要: A method for operating an actuator system includes providing an actuator with a deformable shell defining an enclosed internal cavity, a fluid dielectric, and first and second electrodes disposed over opposing sides of the enclosed internal cavity, and providing a power source such that the actuator system exhibits a first operational performance. Further, the method includes modifying at least one of length, width, diameter, and shape of the deformable shell and/or the first and second electrodes, a volume of the fluid dielectric, permittivity, thickness, and material of the deformable shell, and a partition within the deformable shell such that the actuator so modified exhibits a second operational performance. The operational performance includes force as a function of stroke, actuator breakdown strength, direction of actuation, uniformity of deformation of the deformable shell, actuator flexibility, and stroke as a function of actuator system volume.

摘要: A simplified and improved pistonless cylinder based on an Aramid fiber reinforced elastomer tubular which is highly stiff in radial direction against radial expansion and elastic in axial extension, so as to form a completely sealed and extendable pressure chamber and to be able to perform as well as, or better than, most of the conventional hydraulic cylinders in terms of load bearing capacities, maximum stroke distances and service durability. This simplified cylinder employs no piston, piston rod, sealing seals or oil based hydraulic fluid, and utilizes non-metal materials to construct the majority of the parts for its extendable pressure chamber; therefore, this new cylinder can achieve significant weight and fabrication cost reduction. In addition, this new pistonless cylinder uses ordinary liquids, e.g., fresh water or seawater, as its hydraulic fluid, and can work directly as a hydraulic or pneumatic cylinder interchangeably without a need for much, if any, modification.

摘要: A hydraulic mechanism is mounted on a forklift. The hydraulic mechanism has a control valve and a pressure compensation circuit for compensating pressure within the hydraulic mechanism. The pressure compensation circuit has a relief pressure valve and an unloading valve for releasing pressure within the pressure compensation circuit to a discharge oil passage. Upon instructed to perform cargo handling operation, the unloading valve is switched to an open state, and the relief pressure valve is thereby actuated, so that rapid increase of pressure within the circuit is avoided. Further, the unloading valve is switched to an open state, and the pressure within the hydraulic mechanism is thereby released to the discharge oil passage, so that the cargo handling operation by the tilt cylinder and the lift cylinder is restricted.

摘要: An actuator main body (11) is formed by a plurality of artificial muscles (12). Each artificial muscle (12) includes an elastic tube (13) and a braided tube (15) covering an outside of the elastic tube (13). A first outside cylindrical body (21) is attached to one end portion of the actuator main body (11), and a second outside cylindrical body (22) is attached to the other end portion of the actuator main body (11). Bonding portions (23, 24) are respectively provided in the first and second outside cylindrical bodies (21, 22). The bonding portions (23, 24) are used to bond the elastic tube (13) to the braided tube (15), to bond the outside cylindrical body (21) to the artificial muscles (12), and to bond the outside cylindrical body (22) to the artificial muscles (12).
