    摘要: High pressure injection apparatus (2) for addition of a liquid formulation into a melt stream comprises a first pump which is arranged to accurately meter the liquid formulation (including highly loaded formulations comprising solids comprising particles of relatively large size) and a second pump which boosts the pressure of the formulation to that of the melt stream into which it is to be injected. In an embodiment, the apparatus includes a tank (4) for initially receiving liquid formulation. The tank is subjected to ambient temperature and pressure and need not be stirred or otherwise agitated. The tank is arranged to deliver the formulation via pipe (6) into a first pump (8) (which may be a diaphragm pump or a progressing cavity pump). The pump is arranged to work at a pressure up to 120 bar to boost pressure. Downstream of pump (8), a pipe (10) is arranged to deliver formulation from the pump (8) to a gear pump (12), driven by a motor (13). The gear pump acts to meter the liquid formulation. In an alternative embodiment, apparatus may include a progressing cavity pump to meter formulation and a gear pump to increase pressure. The apparatus may be used to inject a fluid formulation into a melted polymeric material.

    摘要: A fluid machine according to the present invention has an expansion device for collecting waste heat from an internal combustion engine and converting the collected heat energy into mechanical rotational force, an electric rotating device selectively operating as an electric power generator and as an electric motor, and a pump device for pressurizing refrigerant for Rankine cycle, wherein those components are operatively connected with each other by a single rotating shaft. When starting up Rankine cycle, the electric rotating device is operated as the electric motor, so that the pump device is driven to pressurize and pump out high pressure refrigerant. Once the expansion device starts its operation, the electric rotating device is rotated by the expansion device and therefore the operational mode of the electric rotating device is switched over to the power generating mode. The expansion device will be operated at its maximum efficiency in relation to the heat energy inputted into the Rankine cycle, by controlling the power generation at the electric rotating device.

The roller vane stage has a bleed orifice therein located on an inlet side plate of the roller vane stage to intercept succeeding ones of a plurality of vane pockets on the rotor between a downstream end of a discharge port of the roller vane stage and an upstream end of an inlet port of the roller vane stage when the vane pockets are isolated from both ports. The bleed orifice is in flow communication with a fuel tank of the vehicle and functions to relieve the pressure of fuel trapped in the roller pockets upstream of the inlet port and to recirculate an increasing fraction of the discharge of the roller vane stage back to the fuel tank which fraction as the speed of the electric motor decreases to a minimum.

    摘要: An improved pump assembly is used to supply fuel to an aircraft engine and includes a positive displacement pump which supplies fuel during low speed operation of the pump assembly and a centrifugal pump which supplies fuel during relatively high speed operation of the pump assembly. The positive displacement pump has a plurality of vanes connected with an impeller of the centrifugal pump. The vanes are forced radially inwardly against a stationary cam surface by fluid pressure. The fluid pressure is conducted from an outlet of the positive displacement pump through a passage in the impeller of the centrifugal pump to pressure chambers disposed at outer ends of the vanes. By providing the fluid pressure passage in the impeller of the centrifugal pump, the axial length of the pump assembly tends to be minimized. The positive displacement pump is rendered ineffective to pump fluid when the output pressure from the centrifugal pump equals the output pressure from the positive displacement pump. When the positive displacement pump is ineffective, the components of the positive displacement pump are lubricated by fluid which flows from the positive displacement pump to the centrifugal pump through a common drive shaft for the two pumps.
