    摘要: A carburetor includes a body having an inner wall and an air/fuel passageway. An insert includes a base having a shape that closely matches the inner wall and a first tower having a first end disposed within the air/fuel passageway. A main circuit passageway is at least partially formed within the first tower and has a first end in fluid communication with the air/fuel passageway and a second end in fluid communication with the fuel bowl chamber. The main circuit passageway carries fuel from the fuel bowl chamber to the air/fuel passageway during engine operation when the throttle valve is opened. A second tower has a first end coupled to the base and a second end spaced away from the base. The first end of the first tower, the second end of the second tower, and the base are the sole engagement points between the insert and the body.

    摘要: An emulsion tube for a carburetor is formed with a porous wall surrounding an inner passage, wherein air travels about one side of the wall and fuel travels about the opposite side, with air being supplied through the pores to aerate the fuel (with the aerated fuel then being expelled into a venturi wherein engine intake air is traveling to further mix the fuel with the intake air therein). The emulsion tube can beneficially provide a high degree of fuel/air mixing across the entire range of intake airstream flow rates at which an engine may operate. The porosity of the emulsion tube can also be tailored to provide the desired fuel/air ratio(s) across the engine's operational range of intake airstream flow rates.

    摘要: A carburetor for use with an internal combustion engine has a fuel and air mixing passage, a choke valve with a valve head disposed at least partially in the fuel and air mixing passage and an air bleed passage with at least a portion that is communicated with the choke valve head when the choke valve is in its closed position to at least partially restrict air flow out of the air bleed passage when the choke valve is closed. The air bleed passage preferably provides air to a fuel circuit of the carburetor when the choke valve is open. When the choke valve is closed the air flow through the air bleed passage to the fuel circuit is at least partially restricted to provide a richer fuel and air mixture to the engine during a choke assisted start and warming up of the engine.

    摘要: A choke valve is fixed to a predetermined position even after manual release, whereby an improved start and a subsequent stable operation are obtained. A fixing force and a valve opening force are applied to a choke valve shaft. Further, a pin of a choke valve lever pushes an arm piece of a throttle valve lever to slightly open a throttle valve when a choke valve is in a fully open position, and the choke valve opens half way to return the throttle valve to an idle position by a valve closing spring when a complete firing of the engine is achieved. When opening the throttle valve, a cam of the throttle valve lever pushes the pin to open the choke valve, a valve opening force overcomes a fixing force near the fully open position to set the choke valve to the fully open position, and the pin separates from the cam to open and close the throttle valve without interference with the choke valve. The fixing force overcomes the valve opening force from the fully close position to a position proximate to the fully open position, and the choke valve is fixed even after manual release.

    摘要: A carburetor including a throttle valve for regulating the flow of air through the body of the carburetor and to an engine, with fuel being introduced into the air flow for intermixture therewith, and with the device including an air actuated element which is preferably located downstream of the throttle valve and is adapted to be displaced automatically by the air to different positions varying in correspondence with the rate of air flow through the device, and which forms a restriction varying in size with the rate of air flow and acting to enhance dispersal of the fuel within the air and assure intimate intermixture of the air and fuel for optimum functioning of the engine. The fuel may be premixed with a secondary flow of air before delivery of the fuel and secondary air as a combined stream into the primary flow of air, and the combined stream may be drawn by vacuum into the primary flow of air at the location of the restriction formed by the flow actuated member. Precise control of the amount of fuel which is fed into the primary flow is attained by automatic regulation of a valve controlling the amount of secondary air which is mixed with the fuel. A proper air-fuel ratio may be assured by utilizing movement of the air actuated element to control operation of the secondary air valve. Additional automatic controls for starting and idle purposes are actuated by a vacuum responsive element and a thermostatic element.

    摘要: The method of locating and cutting an idle bypass hole in a carburetor body having a throttle section and a normally closed pivotal throttle plate therein on a longitudinal axis which comprises adjustably and guidably mounting a carrier upon a fixture base, locating and clamping a carburetor body upon the carrier and mounting a stationary contact finger upon the base. Further steps include advancing the carburetor body until the contact finger is in firm engagement with the throttle plate, thereafter clamping the carrier to the base and successively cutting the idle bypass hole through the carburetor body upon an axis at right angles to the body axis and at a predetermined distance to a fixed axis of reference. The cutting axis is arranged at a preset critical distance from the closed throttle plate. An apparatus therefor which includes a fixture base, a reciprocal carrier guidably mounted thereon supporting a carburetor body. A fixture support upon the base mounts a control rod carrying a contact finger which on inward feed of the carrier comes into firm contact with the throttle plate. Upon clamping of the carrier to the base, a laser cutting unit having a cutting and axis at right angles to the body axis is energized. The cutting axis is at a predetermined center distance to a fixed axis of reference and arranged at a preset critical distance from the closed throttle plate.

    摘要: A unique supplemental carburetion device for internal combustion engines producing a primary source of fuel-air mixture for use at idle and low engine speeds resulting in decreased fuel consumption and exhaust emissions comprising a fuel reservoir chamber joined to a source of liquid fuel and determinate fluid communication with a fuel metering chamber. The metering chamber preferably is vented to ambient air pressure contains diaphragm valve means for controlling fluid flow into the metering chamber. Liquid fuel from the metering chamber flows into a nebulizing chamber and is nebulized by interaction with a stream of ambient air or blow-by gases. The fuel-air stream is passed into a venturi throat and vaporized and then passed into an expansion chamber where the stream is expanded under low static gas pressure to a mixture having a pre-determined fuel to air ratio. The mixture exits the device and is delivered into downstream portions of the carburetor throat.
