    摘要: The object of the present invention is to provide a fluid rotary machine in which dead spaces can be reduced as much as possible even if the machine is enlarged by arranging rotary valves directly behind cylinder chambers. The fluid rotary machine in which first and second double-headed pistons (7, 8) intersecting within a case body (1, 2) move linearly back and forth within cylinders (16) due to the hypocycloid principle along with rotation of shafts (4a, 4b) and in which intake and exhaust cycles are repeated in chambers (22), wherein cylinder heads (17) for closing the cylinder chambers (22) are each provided with rotary valves (19) which are rotated by drive transmission from the shafts (4a, 4b) and which are provided with intake holes and discharge holes (19b) alternately communicated with the cylinder chambers (22) via communication channels (20a, 20b), and the rotary valves (19) intersect longitudinal axis of the opposing pistons (7, 8) and are capable of rotating parallel with output axil lines.

    摘要: A control device and method for adjusting the angular velocity ratio (ωN(t)/ωK(t)) between a camshaft and a crankshaft is provided. Various control devices and methods for rotating the camshaft relative to the crankshaft provide a drive which may advance and retard the camshaft in comparison to the crankshaft. Previous systems have the disadvantage that either two drives in different directions are necessary for each actuation direction or the drive must have right-handed rotation and left-handed rotation. In the control device and the method according to the invention, the advancing of the camshaft is achieved by a drive in the running direction of the camshaft and the retarding is achieved by a braking device. It has been shown to be especially advantageous if an electric motor in two quadrant mode is used as the drive, which may then also be used as the braking device. Such a control device and method are required for setting the control times in internal combustion engines.

    摘要: Carbon fiber reinforced carbon composite rotary, sleeve, and disc valves for internal combustion engines and the like are disclosed. The valves are formed from knitted or braided or warp-locked carbon fiber shapes. Also disclosed are valves fabricated from woven carbon fibers and from molded carbon matrix material. The valves of the present invention with their very low coefficient of thermal expansion and excellent thermal and self-lubrication properties, do not present the sealing and lubrication problems that have prevented rotary, sleeve, and disc valves from operating efficiently and reliably in the past. Also disclosed are a sealing tang to further improve sealing capabilities and anti-oxidation treatments.

    摘要: The rotary valve assembly of the present invention employs a rotary valve body member that is rotatably mounted in a cylindrical opening in a valve casing forming the head above a piston. The axis of this opening and the rotary valve are perpendicular to the axis of the piston and its associated cylinder walls. The intake and exhaust ports are openings that pass through the valve casing from its outer edge to the cylindrical opening containing the rotary valve. There is also a cylinder port between the cylindrical opening in the valve casing and the cylinder containing the piston. The rotary valve body has a circular cutout or scoop portion removed therefrom to allow intake gases to flow from the intake port via this cutout into the cylinder port and then into the cylinder. This same cutout also allows gases to pass from the cylinder port into the exhaust system via the exhaust port. The rotary valve is preferably integral with and driven by a shaft mounted in sealed bearings (mounted in the valve casing) and the shaft is in turn driven mechanically by appropriate coupling to or with the crankshaft. There is no metal-to-metal contact between the rotary valve body and the opening in the head and thus, no need for a separate lubrication supply. The cylindrical opening in the head contains a plurality of non-metallic sealing members which contact the rotary valve body. The rotary valve body has spacers on both sides to prevent metal-to-metal contact with the walls of the cylindrical opening.

    摘要: An internal combustion engine which includes a combustion head adapted to be bolted to the top of a cylinder block and includes a solid cylindrical rotary valve extending longitudinally in a complementary bore in the head which is parallel to the axis of the crankshaft of the engine. The valve has a pair of cutout passages respectively in different rotary angular positions relative to each cylinder in the engine and respectively comprising intake and exhaust passages that communicate respectively with gas inlet ports and exhaust outlet ports in the combustion head, thereby providing a simple substitute for poppet-type valves and the operating mechanism therefor in internal combustion gasoline engines.
