Disclosed is a rock bolt assembly including: an elongate bolt extending with distal and proximal ends; a tubular sleeve longitudinally extending between leading and trailing ends on the bolt so at least a proximal end portion projects from the trailing end of the sleeve; and a nozzle docking bush on the proximal end portion between the sleeve's trailing end and the bolt's proximal end. The bush has a cylindrical body between first and second ends, a central hole extending through the body, spaced-apart annular ridges on the cylindrical body, a grout distributing channel between the ridges, and an aperture in the channel connecting the channel and hole. The central hole includes a leading portion ending at the first end, sealingly receiving the trailing end. A trailing portion of the central hole ends at the second end and sealingly engages the bolt. Each annular ridge seals against a grout nozzle.

A single-use sealing bush which is adapted to form a sealing interface between a rock bolt and a nozzle of a grout delivery system, the sealing bush including a cylindrical body defined between a first end and a second end; a hole in the first end of the body that is adapted to receive the rock bolt; a pair of spaced apart annular ridges, on an outer cylindrical surface of the body, between which a grout distributing channel is defined; and an aperture which connects the channel to the recess; wherein each annular ridge is adapted to seal against the nozzle in a position which communicates a grout inlet port of the nozzle with the grout distributing channel.

A bearing plate and a nut and bolt arrangement for use as a rib or roof support for coal mines where the extracted coal is used for powder coal and has a specific gravity in the range of 1.5-1.9, preferably 1.7. The bearing plate has an outer reinforced area surrounding an inner reinforced area. The outer reinforced area has one or more endless rib members and the inner reinforced area has a plurality of legs, wherein the legs are spaced from one another and the first end of each leg encircles a bolthole in a center of the bearing plate to receive the bolt of the nut and bolt assembly. The bearing plate and the nut and bolt assembly are made of fiberglass reinforced plastic.

A connector is disclosed for providing a positive and/or a non-positive connection between at least two connecting partners. The connector or connecting means has at least one first region which engages with the first connecting partner by way of a positive and/or a non-positive connection, and at least one second region is provided which engages with the at least second connecting partner by way of a positive and/or a non-positive connection. The connecting means provides a positive and/or non-positive connection between at least two connecting partners in a simple and inexpensive manner and which meets high safety requirements. The second region of the connecting means has a region which is formed from an at least partially flat material made of an Fe alloy with shape memory characteristics and which, when activated, ensures the positive and/or non-positive connection with the second connecting partner by way of a change in shape.

A friction bolt assembly has a generally tubular friction bolt body defining a cavity longitudinally extending through the friction bolt body and having a split longitudinally extending along the friction bolt body to the friction bolt body leading end. A rod longitudinally extends through the cavity. An expansion element is mounted on, or integrally formed with, the rod at or toward the rod leading end and protrudes through the friction bolt body leading end. The expansion element has an engagement surface tapering toward the rod trailing end. A drive head is mounted on, or integrally formed with, the rod at or adjacent the rod trailing end. The rod is actuatable by rotation of the drive head to draw the expansion element toward the friction bolt body trailing end such that the engagement surface engages the friction bolt body at the friction bolt body leading end, radially outwardly deforming the friction bolt body at the friction bolt body leading end. The friction bolt assembly may comprise means for at least substantially preventing rotation of the expansion element relative to the friction bolt body.

The invention relates to a yieldable rock anchor (10) comprising an anchor element (12) extending along a longitudinal center axis (A) and having a first end (14), a second end (16) and an outer surface (18). An anchor plate (20) is attached near the first end (14) of the anchor element, and an anchor head (22) is secured to the first end of the anchor element and adapted to clampingly engage the anchor plate (20). On its outer surface, the anchor element (12) is provided along at least substantially its entire length with a plurality of ribs (24). A plurality of sleeves (26), each sleeve having two opposing ends (28, 30), for covering some of the plurality of ribs is fixedly arranged on the outer surface of the anchor element (12) such that each of the opposing ends (28, 30) at least substantially sealingly engages the outer surface (18) of the anchor element (12).

The device comprises (a) a chamber adapted to hold the fixative, and (b) a thrust member, wherein the fixative is displaced from the chamber into the drill-hole following application of force to the thrust member.

The present invention includes a rock bolt having a longitudinally expandable tube. The tube includes a longitudinally extending depression that defines a temporary enclosed longitudinal passageway. The rock bolt further includes a shielded distal end to prevent debris from entering the temporary enclosed longitudinal passageway. The distal end is shielded using a cover which may be a plug or a cap and may provide a rounded tip for the rock bolt. The plug may be spherical. The cap may be attached such that its proximal end abuts the distal end of the rock bolt, is inserted into the distal end of the rock bolt, or extends beyond the distal end and along the sidewall of the rock bolt. The present invention also includes a method of making such a rock bolt and a method of using such a rock bolt.

The present application relates to a system for supporting a roof of a portion of a mine. The system includes a first plurality of stabilizing members disposed above the roof at a first elevation. The first plurality of stabilizing members originate from a first common location and terminate at a second elevation that is higher than the first elevation. The system further includes a second plurality of stabilizing members disposed above the roof and the first plurality of stabilizing members at a third elevation. The second plurality of stabilizing members originate from a second common location and terminate at a fourth elevation that is higher than the third elevation. The second plurality of stabilizing members are disposed generally perpendicular to the first plurality of stabilizing members.
