    Abstract: A tool comprises a tool body having a bore, a secondary chamber within the tool body, a flow port between the bore and the secondary chamber; a cover component within the bore moveable between at least two positions along the length of the bore, and a control arrangement connected to control movement of the cover component within the bore. The control arrangement comprises a moveable piston and a guide component, one of which has a track and the other has a protruding element received in the track. In a first position, the cover component covers an entrance to the flow port, so that fluid flowing along the bore may not flow into the flow port. In a second position, the cover component does not cover the entrance to the flow port, so that fluid flowing along the bore may flow through the flow port and into the secondary chamber.

    Abstract: A pressurizable assembly which comprises first and second assemblies. The first assembly has a plurality of cam grooves while the second assembly is size and shaped to intimately receive and mate with the first assembly. The second assembly has a connection member a plurality of radially mounted locking pin mechanisms for interacting with one of the plurality of spaced apart cam grooves. Axial movement of the second assembly, toward and away from the first assembly, causes the plurality of locking pin mechanisms to follow along the cam grooves to an intermediate locking position which locks the second assembly with the first assembly, while a subsequent axial movement of the second assembly, toward and away from the first assembly, causes the plurality of locking pin mechanisms to follow along the plurality of cam grooves and disengage the second assembly from the first assembly.

    Abstract: There is provided a downhole tool comprising a locator. The locator includes a wellbore coupler for becoming releasably retained relative to a locate profile; and a wellbore coupler release opposer configured for opposing release of the wellbore coupler from the retention relative to the locate profile. While the opposing of the release of the wellbore coupler from the retention relative to the locate profile is being effected by the wellbore coupler release opposer, relative displacement between the wellbore coupler release opposer and the wellbore coupler is effectible, with effect that the opposing is defeated. The locator also includes a displacement impeder for impeding the relative displacement between the wellbore coupler release opposer and the wellbore coupler.

    Abstract: An off bottom flow diverter subassembly. A fronthead and shank each includes a central bore. One of the shank and the fronthead has an outer diameter configured to fit within the central bore of another of the fronthead and shank. The shank and fronthead are arranged to slide longitudinally with respect to each other and are limited from sliding out of contact with each other. At least one diverting flow passage is between adjacent sliding surfaces of the shank and fronthead. Sliding the fronthead and shank with respect to each other opens and closes the diverting flow passage. Application of a force, sufficient to open the diverting flow passage, to a drill string to which the subassembly is attached in a direction toward an opening of a hole being drilled causes the diverting flow passage to open and drilling fluid to flow out of the subassembly away from the bit.

    Abstract: An intervention tool is provided having one or more packing elements; said device being moveable between a first position in which the device is positively locatable within a profile, and a second position wherein the device is settable in a blank casing that lacks a profile, wherein movement between the first position and the second position is controlled by axial movement of the intervention tool. A device is further provided for positively locating within a profile, wherein said device comprises one or more locator mechanisms; one or more slips; one or more packing elements; and a stopping mechanism; wherein said one or more locator mechanisms are locatable within said profile and wherein said stopping mechanism prevents engagement of said one or more slips and said one or more packing elements unit said one or more locator mechanisms are located in the profile. A method is provided for applying downhole isolation, said method comprising the steps of running an intervention tool downhole, said intervention tool comprising one or more packing elements; locating one or more locating mechanisms on the device into one or more profiles by shifting said device axially; engaging the one or more packing elements by shifting said device axially after the locating mechanisms are located within the profiles; disengaging said one or more packing elements by shifting said device axially; and moving said device to another downhole location.

    Abstract: A well tool apparatus comprises a control arrangement configured to control response of the downhole tool by varying downhole drilling fluid conditions. The control arrangement includes a valve piston longitudinally slidable in a generally tubular controller housing that is in operation substantially co-axial with the wellbore, to open or close a valve port to a fluid flow connection between the drill strings interior and the tool. A latch mechanism is configured to latch the valve piston in an activated mode and/or a deactivated mode. Unlatching of the valve piston can be effected by displacement thereof in a particular axial direction to a mode change position. A stay member is automatically displaceable in the particular actual direction under hydraulic actuation responsive to above-threshold drilling fluid conditions, to obstruct movement of the valve piston under hydraulic actuation to the mode change position. The stay member can include a lock piston carrying a ball locking mechanism for obstructing axial movement of the valve piston.
