A personal rapid transit (PRT) system comprising a very economic triple rail topology for bi-directional urban personal transport. All the ramps are implemented on the one side of the tracks matching the narrow urban spaces. To achieve fast speed, stable direction changes, and a non-compromised passenger security, the ramps are implemented as parallel lines to the corresponding tracks, and the vehicles do not use any wheel steering. Instead, a landing wheel gear is implemented. The vehicle's center of mass is constantly kept in one plane with the guideways. In case of emergencies, a special “anti-fall down” security system holds the vehicle on the rails. The vehicles make turns using the highly compact Direction Change Connector. The PRT control system is implemented as three layer hierarchical system of fault-tolerant processor nodes, and utilizes two channel wireless communications between the layers.

The invention is a support structure for a railed-vehicle that includes individual, unassembled components sized for easy transport. In one embodiment, the support structure includes curved columns integrally-formed with a base, the columns imparting a curved, Y-shaped configuration to the support structure. The components may be prefabricated with known materials and methods and transported to an installation site for assembly. The support structure is preferably sized to support one or two vehicle guideways. The support structure may include a pile foundation for improved support during seismic activity and to facilitate installation on existing streets and sidewalks without covering or interfering with underground plumbing or utilities. Preferably, multiple sections of the guideway are rigidly secured together through expansion joints to define a continuous guideway such that loads on the guideway are distributed over multiple columns.

A golf cart system which can be installed on the fairway of a golf course. The cart system has improved power economy and anti-rolling and anti-pitching motions of the cart. The golf cart system includes a track embedded in the ground and a cart adapted to run on the track. According to the golf cart system, since the track exposed at the ground is very narrow, there is less chance of a golf ball hitting against the track. Even if a golf ball should happen to accidentally hit the exposed track portion, the ball will bounce similarly as when striking on natural grass if the exposed track portion is covered by elastic members such as artificial turf. This makes it possible to install the golf cart system on the fairway of a golf course. In addition, the rolling motion of the cart is effectively prevented by the first and second anti-rolling rollers. Especially, the provision of the second anti-rolling rollers enables to effectively prevent the rolling motion of the cart, since they are positioned most away from the center of gravity of the cart and can generate a large anti-rolling moment. The pitching motion of the cart is also effectively prevented by the anti-pitching rollers. Thus the provision of the anti-pitching rollers makes it possible to install the golf cart system in a golf course abundant in.

The inner edges and the mouth portions define therebetween a longitudinal groove opening downwardly into the interior of the rail. The rail is embedded in the ground of a golf course with upper edges of the mouth portions substantially flush with the ground surface. A golf cart is movable along the rail and has support structure extending downwardly therefrom through the longitudinal groove of the rail. Wheels are mounted on the support structure within the rail interior and contact the inner upper surface of the rail bottom wall. The cart supports a drive to rotate the wheels to move the cart along the rail. The cart is prevented from falling sideways from the rail by rollers supported by the cart and positioned within the rail interior and contacting the inner lower surfaces of the rail upper walls.

The wheels are mounted on brackets which extend at a level below the marginal portions of the flanges and thereupon upwardly into the interior of the vehicle frame. The motor which drives the vehicle is mounted in the frame in the interior of the rail, the same as the conductors which supply electrical energy and the toothed rack or racks which mate with several gears driven by the motor. The interior of the rail further confines and shields other sensitive components of the conveyor, such as electric switches, proximity detectors, contacts which slide along bus bars, centering rolls for the frame of the vehicle, and devices for biasing the motor-driven gears against the toothed racks.
