Abstract:
Fibrillated polyester textile materials and methods for producing same are disclosed. Such fibrillated polyester textile materials have a body portion formed of a plurality of polyester filaments in which the filaments contain a plurality of fibrils on the convex side portion of the filament curvature pointing away from the body portion of the textile material. The methods disclosed include treating the polyester textile material with a swelling agent and abrading the resulting material to produce the desired fibrillated polyester textile material. Also disclosed is a unique method wherein the molecular weight of the polyester employed to make up the textile material is lowered prior to the polyester textile material being treated with the swelling agent and abraded.
Abstract:
Novel smoldering suppressing compositions containing a metal complex of ammonium superphosphoric acid and having a high phosphate content, and processes for their preparation, are disclosed. Further disclosed are formulations containing these compositions and articles-of-manufacture having these formulations applied thereon. These novel formulations are particularly effective as smoldering suppressants for textiles, and are characterized by a high washing fastness.
Abstract:
A coated yarn prepared by coating a polyolefin yarn with a coating composition comprising a polyolefin resin and a flame retardant is provided, wherein the polyolefin is selected from the group consisting of a polyethylene resin, a polyethylene copolymer resin, a polypropylene resin and a polypropylene copolymer resin. The coated yarn can readily be recycled to produce a coreless yarn useful as a flooring material or other industrial materials, which improves the flame retardancy of conventional non-PVC coated yarns. A fabric woven from the coated yarn is useful in the preparation of a blind, a flooring material, wall paper, household items and other interior elements.

A coating composition useful for imparting fire resistance and water-repellency to fabric comprises between about 5% and about 23% by weight of a liquid chlorinated paraffin, between about 20% and about 40% by weight of a resinous chlorinated paraffin, between about 4% and about 12% by weight of a copolymer of ethylene and vinyl acetate, between about 3% and about 18% by weight of a fire retardant, and up to about 15% by weight of an organic solvent. A novel water-repellent and fire resistant fabric material, and a method of preparing such material by coating tentage fabric with the composition of the invention are also disclosed.

There are provided a method for imparting a high-durability function to a polymer formed article, which can efficiently impart various function-imparting agents to the polymer formed article, can decrease processing waste liquid as much as possible and recover the waste liquid and the function-imparting agents, can also reuse them as needed, and moreover, can impart the function-imparting agents to the polymer formed article by a continuous system, not by a batch system; and an apparatus thereof.A method for imparting a function to a polymer formed article, which comprises spraying a supercritical fluid to the polymer formed article to firmly fix a function-imparting agent to the polymer formed article.

A diorganopolysiloxane/acrylate ester copolymer containing emulsion composition for fabric treatment cures at room temperature through removal of water with formation of flexible and highly flame retardant coatings that do not crack even at very low temperatures. Highly flame retardant fabrics can be provided by treatment with the emulsion composition. The emulsion composition contains (A) an emulsion of a copolymer of (a-1) an hydroxyl endblocked diorganopolysiloxane having at least two silicon bonded alkenyl groups in each molecule, and (a-2) an acrylate ester monomer; (B) colloidal silica; (C) a condensation catalyst, and (D) an inorganic flame retardant.
