摘要: A solution phase synthesis process for preparing a rare earth perovskite, the process includes reacting an alkali metal material with a first surfactant ligand in the presence of a first solvent to obtain a first precursor complex solution; reacting a rare earth metal halide with a second surfactant ligand in the presence of a second solvent to obtain a second precursor complex solution; and reacting the first precursor complex solution with the second precursor complex solution in the presence of a third surfactant ligand and a third solvent to obtain the rare earth perovskite; wherein: the rare earth perovskite is in the form of nanocrystals; and the first solvent and third solvent comprise a non-coordinating solvent.

摘要: A method of fabricating an ionic crystal includes providing a single crystal substrate of an ionic crystal material is provided. A patterned mask is applied over the single crystal substrate A growth solution is introduced over the single crystal substrate. The growth solution includes precursors for epitaxial growth of the ionic crystal material on the single crystal substrate such that epitaxial crystals grow over time through pattern openings in the patterned mask into a crystal structure with one or more morphologies.

For example, some embodiments include particles comprising: perovskite crystals of the type ABX3 or AB2X4; wherein A comprises at least one monovalent, divalent, or trivalent element from the fourth or a higher period in the periodic table or mixtures thereof; B comprises a monovalent cation, the volumetric parameter of which is sufficient, with the respective element A, for perovskite lattice formation; and X is selected from the group consisting of halides and pseudohalides, and mixtures thereof; and a coating of at least one semiconductor material surrounding a nucleus comprising the perovskite crystals.

摘要: The present disclosure discloses, in one arrangement, a scintillator material made of a metal halide with one or more additional group-13 elements. An example of such a compound is Ce:LaBr3 with thallium (Tl) added, either as a codopant or in a stoichiometric admixture and/or solid solution between LaBr3 and TlBr. In another arrangement, the above single crystalline iodide scintillator material can be made by first synthesizing a compound of the above composition and then forming a single crystal from the synthesized compound by, for example, the Vertical Gradient Freeze method. Applications of the scintillator materials include radiation detectors and their use in medical and security imaging.

摘要: A method of synthesizing uranium dioxide crystals. The method of synthesizing includes combining a uranium-based feedstock with a mineralizer solution. The uranium-based feedstock is selected from uranium dioxide, uranium tetrafluoride, uranium tetrachloride, triuranium octoxide, and uranium trioxide. The feedstock and mineralizer solution are pressurized, and then a thermal gradient is applied thereto such that a first portion of the feedstock and the mineralizer solution is heated to a temperature that is greater than a temperature of a second portion of the feedstock and the mineralizer solution. The uranium nutrient enters the mineralizer solution from the feedstock in the first portion and uranium nutrient precipitates to spontaneously form crystals in the second portion.
