Abstract: A method for mixing a fluid includes: dispensing a first volume of a fluid into a flexible container, the flexible container being at least partially disposed within the chamber of a support housing; repeatedly moving the support housing and the flexible container contained therein so as to mix the first volume of fluid within the flexible container; adding further fluid into the flexible container after moving the support housing to form a second volume of fluid; and manipulating a mixing element within the flexible container so as to mix the second volume of fluid.

Abstract: A culture dish includes a base and a lid. The base includes a side wall and a concave floor that define a first interior volume open at a top end of the base. The lid further includes an annular rim extending radially outwardly therefrom. An inner surface of the side wall of the lid is configured for slidable receipt about an outer surface of the side wall of the base to engage the lid about the base with the first and second interior volumes overlapping one another to define a sealed, combined internal volume bounded by the side walls of the base and the lid, the floor, and the ceiling.

Abstract: A fluid mixing system includes a support housing having an interior surface bounding a chamber. A flexible bag is disposed within the chamber of the support housing, the flexible bag having an interior surface bounding a compartment. An impeller is disposed within the chamber of the flexible bag. A drive shaft is coupled with the impeller such that rotation of the drive shaft facilitates rotation of the impeller. A drive motor assembly is coupled with the draft shaft and is adapted to rotate the drive shaft. An adjustable arm assembly is coupled with the drive motor assembly and is adapted to move the drive motor assembly which in turn moves the position of the drive shaft and impeller. An electrical controller can control movement of the adjustable arm.

Abstract: A biocontainment vessel includes a vessel structure including a structural composition and an enhancement composition associated with the structural composition. The enhancement composition includes a co-polymer. The co-polymer is a poly(glycerol sebacate) or a poly(glycerol sebacate urethane). The enhancement composition may also include an augmentation agent associated with the co-polymer. The enhancement composition is located with respect to the structural composition such that the enhancement composition benefits biological cells contained in the biocontainment vessel. A composition includes a co-polymer and an augmentation agent contained by the co-polymer. A method of containing biological cells includes placing the biological cells in an augmented biocontainment vessel and storing them in the augmented biocontainment vessel under predetermined conditions. An augmented substrate includes a substrate and an enhancement composition coating a surface of the substrate.

Abstract: A fluid mixing system that can be used as a bioreactor or fermentor can include a stand and a support housing pivotably mounted to the stand. The support housing bounds a chamber into which a container assembly is removably disposed. The container assembly includes a flexible bag bounding a compartment adapted to hold a fluid and a mixing element disposed within the compartment. The support housing can be tilted relative to the stand for ease in insertion of the container assembly. The support housing can also be repeatedly rocked relative to the stand form mixing fluid within the container assembly.
