Abstract:
The present patent application relates to a method for reducing wear and tear on mechanical parts that are in contact with each other in an internal combustion engine by using a lubricating composition comprising:
at least one base oil; at least one oxothiomolybdate salt; and at least one anti-wear compound;
wherein at least one of the said parts includes a surface that comprises an amorphous carbon type coating.
Abstract:
The invention provides a grease composition for rolling bearings that can exhibit improved bearing life that can secure the low noise performance under high temperature conditions, and a rolling bearing where the above-mentioned grease composition is enclosed. The grease composition for rolling bearings includes a base oil, a urea thickener and a metal deactivator. The base oil has an aniline point of 110° C. or more. The urea thickener is at least one kind of diurea compound selected from the group consisting of diurea compounds represented by formula (1): R1—NHCONH—R2—NHCONH—R3 (wherein R1 and R3, which may be the same or different from each other represent a C6-30alkyl group, a C5-8cycloalkyl group or a C6-10aryl group, and R2 represents a bivalent aromatic hydrocarbon group having 6 to 15 carbon atoms.)
Abstract:
The refrigerator lubricating oil of the present invention contains: a base oil containing, as a major component, a polyol ester (A) of a fatty acid (a1) that is a fatty acid having a number of carbon atoms of from 3 to 18 and a polyol (a2) that is selected from neopentyl glycol, trimethylolethane, trimethylolpropane, trimethylolbutane, pentaerythritol, and dipentaerythritol; and a disulfide and/or trisulfide compound (B), and the disulfide and/or trisulfide compound (B) is blended in an amount of from 30 to 10,000 ppm by mass in terms of sulfur equivalent based on the total amount of the refrigerator lubricating oil.
Abstract:
A lubricating oil composition for transmissions is provided which improves fuel saving properties and has excellent metal fatigue life and heat resistance. The composition contains 50 to 97 percent by mass of (A) a mineral base oil having a 100° C. kinematic viscosity of 1.5 mm2/s or higher and 3.5 mm2/s or lower, a pour point a −25° C. or lower, a viscosity index of 105 or greater, a % Cp of 85 or greater, a % CN of 2 or greater and 20 or less and a % CA of 3 or less; 3 to 10 percent by mass of (B) a monoester-hased base oil having a 100° C. kinematic viscosity of 2 mm2/s or higher and 10 mm2/s or lower; and 150 to 400 ppm by mass as phosphorus of (C) a specific sulfur-containing phosphite ester. The composition has a 100° C. kinematic viscosity of 2.5 mm2/s or higher and 4.0 mm2/s or lower.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a grease composition for constant velocity joints containing a lubricating base oil, at least one thickener selected from urea-based thickeners, urethane-based thickeners and urea/urethane-based thickeners, an organomolybdenum, a zinc dithiophosphate, a polysulfide, and a triglyceride, wherein the content of the organomolybdenum is 1000-5000 ppm by mass in terms of molybdenum element based on the total amount of the grease composition. According to the grease composition, it is possible to exert sufficient characteristics even in the case of reducing the amount of the additive such as molybdenum disulfide.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to the use of antioxidants in Fischer Tropsch derived products. The antioxidants of the present invention are preferably temporary antioxidants that may be removed after the period in which oxidation is expected by techniques such as simple distillation. The temporary antioxidants of the present invention are typically sulfur-containing compounds generated from sweetening light hydrocarbon streams.
Abstract:
The invention relates to lubricant compositions containing(a) a mineral and/or synthetic base oil,(b) a compound of the formula IA--(S).sub.n --G (I)wherein n is preferably 2 and A and G are the same or different and represent either a radical ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 may be methyl, or are a nitrogen-containing 5- to 7-membered heterocyclic radical such as ##STR2## and (c) optionally further additives.
Abstract:
There are disclosed mineral or synthetic oil functional fluids which are suppressed in their tendency to form H.sub.2 S at elevated temperatures by use of an additive of the formula ##STR1## wherein X is .dbd.O or H.sub.2, R is alkyl and M is a metal such as zinc. The invention is especially useful in automatic transmission fluid compositions.
