Abstract:
In a glass product forming machine having molds 1A and 1B each composed of a pair of split molds 11 and 12, and a mold cooling device X for cooling the molds 1A and 1B to control the temperatures thereof, in order to prevent the occurrence of a defect such as deformation or cracks in a formed article due to a temperature difference between the split molds 11 and 12, the mold cooling device X is configured to include: cooling mechanisms 3R and 3L provided to the respective split molds, the cooling mechanisms each individually applying cooling air to each of the split molds 11 and 12 of the molds 1A and 1B; valve mechanisms 30R and 30L for individually opening and closing each of paths for introducing cooling air to the respective cooling mechanisms 3R and 3L; temperature detection means for detecting the temperature of at least one of the split molds; and a temperature control device 9 for generating and outputting control signals for controlling the opening and closing operations of the respective valve mechanisms 30R and 30L on the basis of the detected temperature value by the temperature detection means.

Abstract:
A method and a machine for the production of hollow glassware articles, by the blow-and-blow, press-and-blow, press-and-blow paste mold and direct-press processes in a glassware forming machine including single or multiple machine sections each having single or multiple-cavity, comprising: forming a parison in an inverted orientation, into a blank mold and a first transferable and open-able neck ring mold held by an inverting apparatus having a first and a second diametrically opposed arms, each arm holding a transferable and open-able neck ring mold; inverting the parison held by the first transferable and open-able neck ring mold, by rotating the first arm 180° to an upright orientation at an intermediate station, while the second arm with a second transferable and open-able neck ring mold is simultaneously placed at the parison forming station; transferring the first transferable and open-able neck ring mold holding the parison in an upright orientation, from the intermediate station, to a blow mold station, by a transference apparatus; releasing the first parison into a blow mold, and turning back the first transferable and open-able neck ring mold empty to the first arm of the inverting apparatus, at the intermediate station to be placed again at the parison forming station by rotating the first arm additional 180°, completing a 360° turn, while the second arm reaches to the intermediate station; blowing the parison into a blow mold to form a finished article; and transferring the finished article in an upright orientation, once the blow mold is opened, by a take out apparatus, to place it at a dead plate or at a carrying conveyor.

Abstract:
A machine for moulding hollow glass items comprises a basement (2null) supporting a plurality of modules (4null) placed side by side, having first and second devices (13, 14) supplying cooling air for parison and blow moulds. A first (VI, 16-22) and a second (V2, 26-31) air supply arrangement supply independently the first and second supply devices (13, 14). Both supply air flows (F1, 15, F2, 25, 25null) get independently through each module (4null) through the basement (2null) and within the module.
Abstract:
A takeout for an I.S. machine includes a cooling tube which is displaceable between up and down positions. Displace is controlled to correspond to the desired heat removal along the path of displacement.
Abstract:
A glassware forming mold that includes a body of heat conductive construction having a central portion with a forming surface for shaping molten glass and a peripheral portion spaced radially outwardly of the central portion. A plurality of coolant passages extend in a spaced array through the peripheral portion of the mold body, and liquid coolant is directed through such passages for extracting heat from the body by conduction from the forming surface. A plurality of openings extend axially into the body radially between at least some of the liquid coolant passages and the forming surface for retarding heat transfer from the forming surface to liquid coolant in the passages.
Abstract:
A method of forming glass containers, including the steps of drying a stream of air, passing the dried air into a vacuum-insulated mixing chamber, evaporating liquid cryogen in the mixing chamber, allowing the resulting cryogen vapor to mix with the air to form a mixture at a temperature below -20.degree. C., passing the gas mixture into a vacuum-insulated manifold, and causing the gas mixture to flow from the manifold and into the insides of glass containers being formed in molds to cool the containers.
Abstract:
A process for manufacturing glass objects such as bottles, in which a cold fluid containing a cryogen is sprayed around and/or under the bottles in the region of the transfer tongs and/or of the standby table in order to accelerate the cooling of the bottles and improve the quality of the latter and the productivity of the manufacturing machines. This cooling may be accompanied by a localized, or complete quenching of the bottle.
