摘要:
A method for producing hydrogen product having a low carbon intensity is provided. The method includes the steps of: (a) converting a hydrocarbon feedstock to a hydrogen product using a hydrocarbon reforming process; (b) providing at least some of the required energy for the hydrogen production process from a biomass power plant; and (c) processing one or more flue gas streams from the biomass power plant in a carbon capture unit to reduce CO2e emissions. The hydrogen product has a carbon intensity preferably less than about 1.0 kg CO2e/kg H2, more preferably less than 0.45 kg CO2e/kg H2, and most preferably less than 0.0 kg CO2e/kg H2.

A method for producing nitrogen for injection into an enhanced oil recovery operation wherein the nitrogen is produced in an air separation device and the oxygen stream produced is not discarded but recovered and employed with or without an additional air gas stream for feeding to a partial oxidation unit/autothermal reformer and shift conversion to produce carbon dioxide and hydrogen. The carbon dioxide can additionally be used for injection into an enhanced oil recovery operation and the hydrogen can be used as a fuel for a gas turbine driven closed cycle power plant for providing energy to the air separation device.

摘要:
The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a hydrogen- and nitrogen containing gas mixture, where a mixture of steam and a carbon containing gas is fed to the retentate side of at least one hydrogen transport membrane syngas and sweep gas generator where said gas and steam are converted to synthesis gas. A part of the hydrogen in said synthesis gas is transported through the membrane to the permeate side in said generator where it reacts with oxygen in an air stream fed to said permeate side to generate heat and a nitrogen and steam containing gas. The synthesis gas is further fed to the retentate side of a downstream hydrogen transport membrane unit or a hydrogen transport membrane reactor where a major part of the hydrogen in said synthesis gas, and if a reactor is used, a major part of additional hydrogen generated at the retentate side in said reactor is transported through said downstream membrane and picked up by said nitrogen containing gas to form a hydrogen- and nitrogen containing gas mixture. Furthermore, the invention relates to a method for performing a catalytic or non-catalytic process wherein the hydrogen- and nitrogen containing gas mixture manufactured by the method according to claims 1–6 is applied as one of the reactants in said process.

A method is disclosed for converting light hydrocarbons (e.g. methane or natural gas) to synthesis gas employing a nonmicroporous, thin shell catalyst that catalyzes a net partial oxidation reaction. Certain preferred catalysts comprise a thin outer layer comprising at least one catalytically active metal disposed on a discrete nonmicroporous support structure. A preferred thin shell catalyst has an effectiveness factor greater than 0.1 when utilized in a partial oxidation reaction.

This invention provides a process for the catalytic partial oxidation of a hydrocarbon feedstock by contacting a feed stream including a hydrocarbon feedstock and an oxygen-containing gas with a catalyst in a reaction zone maintained at conversion-promoting conditions effective to produce an effluent stream including carbon monoxide and hydrogen. The process of this invention is characterized by using an unsupported porous catalyst containing rhodium, such as rhodium foam.

A micro component steam reformer system for producing hydrogen-enriched gas to power a fuel cell adapted for scalable power requirements. The steam reformer system uses a cycle in which, in laminar flow modules, a vaporized hydrocarbon is mixed with fuel cell off gas having a hydrogen component and combusted to heat vaporizers and a steam reformer. Vaporized hydrocarbons and water vapor are introduced as a feed stock into the steam reformer to produce a syn-gas, which is cooled and purified. The resulting principally hydrogen gas may be introduced into a hydrogen fuel cell. Off gas from the fuel cell is recycled to provide hydrogen and water for use in the system cycle.
