Abstract:
A method for forming a container having an injection-molded feature. The method includes obtaining a blank, forming the blank into a three-dimensional article having at least one sidewall, and forming the injection-molded feature extending around the perimeter of the article. The injection-molded feature comprises an anchor portion and a flange portion. The anchor portion is in contact with an interior surface of the at least one sidewall and the flange portion extends from the anchor portion outwardly from the at least one sidewall.
Abstract:
A tool and method for forming a container from a construct. The tool comprising a cavity for receiving a construct, a core operatively associated with the cavity and being operable to move into the cavity, an injection cavity for receiving injection-molding material and directing injection-molding material around at least a portion of the perimeter of the construct, and a clamping feature. The clamping feature is operatively connected to at least one of the cavity and the core and is for clamping a peripheral portion of the construct as the core moves into the cavity to form the construct into the container.
Abstract:
Various packages for food products are provided herein. In one embodiment, a food package includes a rectangular substantially planar rigid bottom wall; two slanted side/side walls extending angularly upwardly from the bottom wall, and a rectangular opening opposite the bottom wall, the opening larger in area than the rectangular rigid bottom wall. A top side wall and a bottom side wall extend upwardly from the bottom wall; and a flexible film extends over the opening and seals the opening. The side walls are configured to engage and hold the food product, each side wall being angularly ramped and extending downward and inward toward the bottom wall, and having at least one well which extends downwardly from the angularly upward extending side wall.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a reclosable packaging with a packaging body (12), with an edge component (14) surrounding a packaging opening (16) and which is irremovably connected to the packaging body (12), and also with a lid (20) which is held on the edge component (14) and closes the packaging opening (16), wherein the packaging body (12) is substantially formed by a flexible packaging body film (13) at least in one section (12a) accommodating the edge component (14), wherein the lid (20) is connected to the edge component (14) by means of a first detachable connection in the form of an adhesive bond or seal in the initially closed packaging state, and in a reclosed packaging state after a first opening is connected to the edge component (14) by means of a second detachable and restorable connection formed separately from the first connection. According to the invention the lid (20) comprises a plug section (20a) that penetrates the packaging opening (16) in the reclosed packaging state and a flexible lid film (22) irremovably connected to the plug section (20a), a joining section (22d) of the flexible lid film being connected to the edge component (14) with the formation of the first detachable connection in the initially closed packaging state, and the plug section (20a) forms the second detachable connection with the edge component (14) in the reclosed packaging state.
Abstract:
A tray (100) or container (478) which may be hermetically sealed having a flange (116), rim (124), handle (258), rib, bottom surface (500), sidewall (114), or other portion that is encapsulated by or formed from injection-molded material.
Abstract:
A food package for sliced food products to be maintained with a fluffed appearance, the package including a rigid base member forming a compartment for receiving the food product and a rigid lid sealed to the compartment. Advantageously, the base member includes a bottom wall and side wall portions that are configured to engage the food product to hold the slices in a fluffed arrangement thereof. Preferably, one or more tapered side wall portions hold the food product upwardly toward the lid and inwardly toward a center of the package. In preferred embodiments, the base member and lid provide a rigid-rigid construction of the food package. In preferred embodiments, the food package is also configured to stand-up in a vertical display orientation and does not require the food product be contained within a sealed pouch within the compartment.
Abstract:
An improvement to a container of the type that includes a vacuum formed transparent base and lid, the container having opposite sides that each forms a base flap (20) and a lid flap (22) that lie adjacent and parallel to each other, wherein the container indicates if it has been opened after a store clerk has loaded food into the container. An indicator sheet (34) lies between the base and lid and has cut-out characters (60) lying in holes (62) of a carrier (64), the carrier being bonded to the base flap and the characters being bonded to the lid flap. The container is opened by a person pulling up the lid flap, with the characters lifting out of their holes as they move up with the lid flap, and with the carrier that forms the character holes remaining on the base flap. When the lid is closed by pressing down the lid flap against the base flap, there will be some misalignment of the characters with the holes that they previously lay in, creating gaps that are readily noticeable. The gaps can spell much of a word such as “opened”.
Abstract:
A tray (100) or container (478) which may be hermetically sealed having a flange encapsulated by or formed from injection-mold material. The tray (100) has a flange (116) extending outwardly from a sidewall (114) of the tray, and containing irregularities induced by the creation of the tray (100). An encapsulating material surrounds the flange (116) in substantially uniformly thick manner, and along with the flange (116) defines an encapsulated rim (124). The encapsulating material is generally a plastic such as polyolefin, nylon, or polyethylene, but may also be made from other materials. This encapsulating material covers a portion of the flange (116) and extends a set distance from the flange's (116) outer edge.
Abstract:
A covered plastic container, and a method for the manufacture thereof, is provided in which a plastic laminate cover is sealed to the walls of the container in such a manner that only the inner layer of the laminate cover is sealed to the container and that the outer layer or layers of the laminate cover are removable therefrom and thereafter usable as a press-on cover.
