Abstract: A drive assist system includes an occupant monitoring apparatus, a determination apparatus, and a drive assist control apparatus. The occupant monitoring apparatus monitors a physical state of an occupant, including a driver, of a vehicle. The determination apparatus determines a traveling state and a stopped state of the vehicle. The drive assist control apparatus executes a control to secure safe traveling upon determining that sleep duration of the occupant is less than a predetermined time and quality of sleep thereof is lower than a predetermined level on the basis of monitoring information acquired by the occupant monitoring apparatus. The drive assist control apparatus includes one or more processors that perform, in a case where determination information from the determination apparatus indicates the stopped state, a control of appropriately restricting the driver's driving operation on the basis of at least the sleep duration and the quality of sleep of the driver.

Abstract: A station device in a biometric pre-identification system uses identity to perform one or more actions. Identities are determined (such as via a backend) using biometric information. A biometric pre-identification device obtains biometric information and/or a digital representation thereof from a person approaching the station device. The biometric pre-identification device transmits such to the station device, facilitating the station to begin and/or perform various actions. The station device begins or performs the actions using the identity determined based on the biometric information before the person arrives at the station device.

Abstract: A driver monitoring device includes: a processor; and a memory. The memory stores instructions, when executed by the processor, cause the driver monitoring device to perform operations including: detecting an unbalanced posture of a driver based on an image of a driver's seat; determining whether the unbalanced posture is a habitual unbalanced posture of the driver; calculating an opening degree of at least one eye of the driver based on the image in a case in which it is determined that the unbalanced posture is other than the habitual unbalanced posture; determining whether it is a timing to give a notification in a case in which the vehicle is traveling and the opening degree is equal to or larger than a first threshold; and giving the notification to the driver in a case in which it is determined that it is the timing to give the notification.

Abstract: A system monitors physiological data of a vehicle operator during operation of a vehicle, and/or driving data associated with operation of the vehicle by the vehicle operator, to identify potential sleep-related conditions, such as obstructive sleep apnea, insufficient wakefulness, insomnia, or the like, and facilitate remediation of the sleep-related condition. Depending on the sleep-related condition and/or the sensor data, the system can select and present a remediation suggestion intended to reduce or eliminate the sleep-related condition, and/or otherwise improve the safety of the vehicle operator during operation of the vehicle. In some cases, the system can be especially useful for vehicle operators who have a diagnosed or undiagnosed sleep-related disorder.

Abstract: A drowsiness sign notification system applied to a vehicle includes a driver monitor and a controller. The driver monitor detects a driver state being a state of a driver of the vehicle. The controller executes a drowsiness sign determination process that determines whether or not the driver shows a drowsiness sign based on the driver state. When it is determined that the driver shows the drowsiness sign and an activation condition is satisfied, the controller executes rest area informing process that informs the driver of a rest area. The activation condition of the rest area informing process is set from a viewpoint of a relationship between a location of the rest area and a target route of the vehicle, or an expected time required for the vehicle to reach the rest area.

Abstract: A method evaluates a degree of fatigue of a vehicle occupant in a vehicle. A number of first fatigue indicators is provided which are determined according to computation rules from a plurality of first sensor values and each represent a degree of fatigue of the vehicle occupant. The first sensor values represent measured values of the vehicle and/or measured values relating to a current journey. A first metadata record is associated with each of the number of first fatigue indicators, wherein the first metadata records represent information about the characteristics of the sensors. The first sensor values are processed in the respective first fatigue indicators. A number of second fatigue indicators is provided which are determined according to computation rules from one or more second sensor values and each represent a degree of fatigue of the vehicle occupant. The second sensor values represent physiological and/or physical parameters of the vehicle occupants. A second metadata record is associated with each of the number of second fatigue indicators. The second metadata records represent information about the characteristics of the sensors. The second sensor values are processed in the respective second fatigue indicators. An overall fatigue indicator is determined which represents the degree of fatigue of the vehicle occupant by weighting the number of first fatigue indicators and the number of second fatigue indicators. The fatigue indicators are weighted according to the information about the characteristics of the sensors contained in the first metadata record and the second metadata record.

Abstract: A consciousness state determination system comprises a first image-taking section which is mounted on a vehicle and takes images of a driver of the vehicle, an electronic control unit which executes a consciousness state determination process of determining whether the driver is conscious, based on a first image corresponding to the image of the driver taken by the first image-taking section, and a mobile terminal carried by the driver. The electronic control unit is configured to determine whether the driver is conscious, based on terminal-side information corresponding to information acquired by the mobile terminal when a predetermined condition that a reliability level of a determination result obtained from the consciousness state determination process is presumably low, becomes satisfied.

Abstract: The invention is related to a method for driver alertness detection, The method comprises the steps of determining a vanishing point of a vehicle in motion; determining over time, by an eye tracking device, a set of gaze points of the driver of the vehicle; determining a gaze movement from the set of gaze points; and identifying an alertness of the driver, based on a direction of the gaze movement relative to the vanishing point being outward. Further, the invention is related to an eye tracking device for driver alertness detection, an alertness detection system, a computer program, and a computer-readable medium.
