Abstract: The invention relates to a spring support for a coil spring (15), comprising an annular receiving element (5) having a top side and a bottom side, wherein the top side is provided to receive one end of the coil spring (15), and comprising an annular damping element (3), which is in contact with the bottom side of the receiving element (5), wherein the damping element (3) furthermore has on its inside a collar which extends from the bottom side of the receiving element (5) in the direction of the coil spring (15), and wherein the collar is formed by bending from a disk-shaped basic form of the damping element (3). The invention furthermore relates to a method for producing a spring support according to the invention, in which a disk-shaped damping element (3) is first of all placed in a casting mold, and an annular receiving element (5) is then produced by being molded or injection-molded to the damping element (3), with the result that the bottom side of the receiving element (5) is in contact with the annular damping element (3).

Abstract: An elastomeric spring suspension is described for supporting a longitudinally extending vehicle frame rail above first and second axles forming a tandem axle configuration. The suspension includes a frame hanger assembly mounted to the vehicle frame rail. The frame hanger assembly has two full spring modules, each of which includes two shear springs, a progressive spring rate load cushion having a pyramidal shape with a flattened top surface and a spring mount for mounting the springs. A saddle assembly is connected to the spring mount, and an equalizing beam is connected to the saddle assembly and further connected to the axles. The spring rate for the suspension increases almost linearly as a function of sprung load, resembling a pneumatic suspension. Accordingly, the suspension exhibits excellent ride quality, without sacrificing roll stability.

Abstract: A tractor has front wheels mounted on the frame at fixed angles and a pair of rear wheels each mounted on a respective castor assembly. Each of the castor assemblies has a vertical pivot axis mounted in a swivel support of an axle of the frame and a bottom transverse tubular member connected to a pair of parallel forks carrying at a lower ends the transverse axle of the wheel. The mounting link includes a torsion spring defined by a rod attached to the forks which passes though a sleeve containing a resilient elastomeric spring of the tubular member allowing spring suspension pivotal movement of the upper ends of the forks relative to the bottom transverse member about an axis parallel to the wheel axis.

Abstract: An elastomeric spring suspension is described for supporting a longitudinally extending vehicle frame rail above first and second axles forming a tandem axle configuration. Abstract: Method and arrangement for providing a spring element configured to transmit compression forces and tensile forces between a vehicle frame and a wheel axle that are movably arranged with respect to one another. The spring element includes a rubber body and a mechanical connection member that extends through the rubber body. Abstract: A sub-frame assembly for use with a vehicle having wheels such as a trailer is provided. The sub-frame assembly comprises two or more frame members, one or more cross members, and two or more stub torsion axle assemblies. Each of the stub torsion axle assemblies have a torsion arm, a spindle extending from the torsion arm for mounting one of the wheels, and a distal end extending from the stub torsion axle assembly for mounting to the frame assembly. The frame assembly may further comprise one or more shim plates for reception between the cross member and the distal end of the stub torsion axle assembly for allowing adjustment of the toe angle of the wheel assembly. In addition, the stub torsion axle assembly may be rotatably mounted to the cross member whereby the camber angle of the wheel assembly may be adjusted.

Abstract: An improved vehicle front suspension assembly is disclosed utilizing pneumatic springs for use with a conventional vehicle body and frame configuration and with a conventional vehicle front axle housing and wheel assembly. A left air spring and a right air spring are included each mounted in abutment with the bottom portion of the frame of the vehicle and mounted upon the top of the axle housing of the vehicle. A stabilizer bar assembly is used having a left stabilizer bar, a right stabilizer bar and two lateral stabilizer bars, one in the rear and one in the front, which are fixedly secured with respect to the left and right stabilizer bars to form a secure overall stabilizer bar assembly. A spring support plate is fixedly secured with respect to this stabilizer assembly and is adapted to receive a front air spring mounted to the foremost top portion thereof. This front air spring if fixedly secured with respect to the frame at the upper portion thereof by being mounted directly attached to a top support member. Lateral swaying is prevented by the inclusion of a tracking bar running from the frame to the axle housing and by the firmly secured position of the front air spring.
