    摘要: The present invention provides an annular beam of monolithic construction of one homogeneous material and a related efficient, low-cost non-pneumatic tire. Specific geometric design, combined with nonlinear elastomer physical properties, enable the suppression of all reinforcing belts, continuous fibers, or other strengthening layers in the annular beam. The annular beam consists of at least two bands that are continuous in the circumferential direction and connected by a web geometry. The non-pneumatic tire consists of the annular beam, a ground contacting portion, a central wheel, and a plurality of web spokes that connect the wheel and beam. When the tire is loaded to a design load against a flat surface over a design contact length, a contact area of essentially uniform pressure is produced, while the load is transmitted from the beam to the hub via tension in the web spokes. The tire can be economically manufactured.

The system may further include an upper mold portion configured to be coupled to the lower mold portion. The upper mold portion may include an upper face plate configured to provide an upper relief corresponding to a second side of the tire. The system may also include a plurality of mold inserts configured to be positioned between the lower and upper face plates. The mold inserts may include a shell portion at least partially enclosing a void configured to provide a cavity in the tire, and the shell portion of the mold inserts is configured to remain embedded in the tire upon removal of the tire from the lower and upper mold portions.

The inner circumferential portion may be configured to be associated with a hub. The molded tire may also include a tread portion associated with the outer circumferential portion of the support structure, wherein the tread portion may be formed from a first polyurethane having first material characteristics. The support structure may be formed from a second polyurethane having second material characteristics different than the first material characteristics. The support structure may be chemically bonded to the tread portion.

The composite solid tire 10 includes circumferential grooves 22, 22 having a predetermined depth formed in the outer circumferential surface 16 of the inner rubber layer 14 and anchor portions 24, 24 formed of the same polyurethane elastomer as the outer layer 18 and integrally formed with outer layer 18. The anchor portions 24, 24 are fitted into the circumferential grooves 22, 22 so that the outer layer 18 is integrally formed on the outer circumferential surface of the inner rubber layer.

    摘要: A tire, and an apparatus and method for forming a tire. The tire may either be a tubed or tubeless tire, and is filled with a mixture of virgin rubber and small rubber pieces. Preferably, a machine grinds the core of used flatproofed tires, or pieces thereof, into a finely communicated pulverulent. The pulverent is mixed with liquid virgin flatproofing material, such as a polyurethane. An injector introduces this mixture, into the core of a tire, typically through a valve. The core of the tire is preferably substantially filled with this mixture. The injector may take the form of one or more elongated screws and the mixing may occur as the ground rubber is being conveyed by the screw.

    摘要: A urethane wheel including a hard urethane hub formed with a rim facing radially outward, and including stand-off ribs spaced equidistant thereabout. A method of manufacturing the wheel which includes selecting a pressurized annular bladder, locating the bladder both axially and radially about the rim, forming a concentric bridge space having axial communication channels between the rim and bladder, and then pouring liquid urethane in a mold to form the tire.

    摘要: Plural non-pneumatic (NPTs) are unitarily fitted, side-by-side, on a wheel rim, forming a multiple NPT (MNPT) to carry a load by sharing the load between the side-by-side NPTs. By "unitarily" is meant that the NPTs are fitted to the rim as a whole, without cutting or sectioning. With this construction, a MNPT is provided; with characteristics which are surprisingly better than those attributable to a single NPT having the same or a different outer hoop diameter but the same mass of resin as the plural NPTs. The NPTs may be formed as rings, then by heat-distending them, unitarily post-fitted to the surface of an adhesively prepped wheel rim, for operation at relatively low torque; alternatively, and more preferably the NPTs are cast or otherwise thermoformed, as for example by injection molding, onto the wheel rim and self-adhesively autogenously secured, so as to provide the plural NPTs integrally bonded to the wheel rim. Dual spaced-apart NPTs on a wheel rim are unexpectedly advantageous in comparison to a single NPT, designed to carry the same load, irrespective of which of several constructions is used for the NPTs. First, the twin NPTs provide greater stability because the spaced apart twin webs lend far more stability than the single web. Second, the spring rate for a larger NPT having a higher web is lower than the spring rate for either of the dual NPTs. For the dual NPTs, this results in less road noise, a better `ride` and greater comfort, each of which considerations assume greater significance as speed of the vehicle increases. Third, each of the dual NPTs generates substantially less heat, the difference getting progressively exaggerated as the speed of travel increases. It is easier to dissipate the heat generated by the dual smaller NPTs than it is to dissipate that generated by a single larger NPT of equivalent duty due mainly to the larger surface area presented by the twin NPTs.

    摘要: A pre-pressurized in-line skate wheel including a hard polyurethane hub having a drop center formed between radially projecting guide flanges formed with axially projecting windows as spaced equidistant thereabout in an annular array. A bladder device includes a plurality of pressurized hollow cross rods nested at their opposite ends in such windows and surmounting on their radially outward sides a pressurized annular tube arranged concentric with the drop center. A soft polyurethane wheel body is formed in such drop center and projects radially outwardly to encapsulate the annular tube and form an elliptical annular tread surface. The method of manufacturing the tire includes blow molding the cross rods and the annular tube and pressurizing them to the desired individual pressures so that the resultant tire will exhibit the combined benefits of polyurethane cushioning and shock absorption associated with compressible gases.
