摘要: A process and product is presented for obtaining selective areas of distinctive appearance, i.e., matting on synthetic coverings. The process includes, depositing a polymeric coating which contains at least one radiation initiator for polymerization onto at least a first selected area or zone on an expandable or non-expandable support substrate. Next, at least one second coating comprised of a crosslinkable monomer is deposited onto a second selected area on the substrate. This second area or zone may encompass at least a portion of the first area. Thereafter, pre-gelling is performed on the deposited material followed by a graining operation which is carried out over at least a portion of the substrate surface. The synthetic covering in the first zone or area is then polymerized by radiation initiation wherein the particular appearance thereof is fixed to the substrate. Thereafter, gelling is carried out wherein the polymer which has not been fixed by radiation initiation will flow, i.e., fluidize, such that the grained appearance in the second area or zone will disappear, i.e., smooth over. This gelling may also cause some expansion of the polymer on the substrate.

摘要: First, a decorative sheet is produced by forming in sequence on a base paper such as titanium paper an ordinary printed layer and a heat-foamable printed layer, respectively with desired patterns. The decorative sheet is then impregnated with a thermosetting resin liquid and dried. The dried impregnated decorative sheet is superposed on a substrate such as a core sheet, and the resulting laminated structure is sandwiched between a pair of heating plates and heated and pressed whereby a thermoset integral structure with the pattern of the foamable printed layer foamed is produced. The entire surface of the integral structure is coated with a solvent to swell the foamed pattern layer and then rubbed to remove the swollen foamed pattern layer and form concavities thereat. The resulting thermoset resin decorative sheet or plate is provided with deep distinct concavities coincident with the pattern of the heat-foamable printed layer as well as a good surface luster.

摘要: A method for producing a relief, which comprises forming a layer of a pattern on the surface of a sheet made of a material having the property of increasing in volume when heated, said pattern being made of a material having a stronger ability to absorb light than the aforesaid material, and then irradiating strong light uniformly on the entire surface of the sheet to selectively heat that portion of the sheet which is adjacent the undersurface of the pattern layer, whereby the pattern layer is raised from the sheet surface corresponding to the increase of the volume of the sheet portion.

摘要: A flexible wallcovering is made by applying a foamable composition (13) to a woodchip paper (12, 14) having woodchips defining a relief surface on the paper by a screen printing process and then foaming the composition. Preferably, the wallcovering is of two ply construction with a woodchip content between the plies and the paper is formulated so that the upper ply is dry removable from the lower ply. The woodchips are at least 2 mm in average length; and the woodchips form 20 to 35% by weight of the paper.

摘要: A process of forming an embossed surface covering is disclosed. The process comprises forming a crosslinkable foam on a backing, depositing a deactivator composition to inhibit cross-linking on at least a portion of the cross-linkable foam, and heating the resulting crosslinkable foam-containing sheet to a temperature sufficient to crosslink the portions of the foam not affected by the deposition of deactivator composition and melt the portions of the foam affected by the deposition of deactivator composition.

摘要: A method of molding a design in low relief in an area of printing ink with a puffing agent placed on fabric which comprises applying a molding die with a reverse impression of the design to be molded on the ink under heat and pressure for a sufficient time to activate the puffing agent to produce a molded design in the ink with a minimum change to the physical configuration of the underlying fabric. Heat and pressure can also be applied through a transfer medium to the area surrounding where the design in low relief is to be formed to enhance the feel or hand of the fabric. This method is especially useful for molding a design on cotton and cotton blend T-shirts and sweatshirts, hats and denim jackets.
