Abstract:
An erasable writable material for large format applications is disclosed, and includes a cast polyvinylchloride film with a mount surface opposite an etched receiver surface. Also incorporated is a transparent polyester film that has a marking side with a hardness exceeding approximately shore D 79 and an opposite seal side, hermetically laminated to the receiver surface. The marking side includes a clear superstrate that has a hardness exceeding approximately shore D 90, which is applied to the marking side of the polyester film to lower surface energy below about 24 millinewtons per meter. The receiver surface is treated to have a surface energy exceeding about 45 millinewtons per meter, to enable improved adherence of printed and preformed graphic elements, which are encapsulated when laminated between the PET film and receiver surface. The superstrate includes a perfluoropolyether, a polyurethane, an acrylated polyurethane, and/or an acrylate resin to harden the material.
Abstract:
Multi-part and one-part dry erase compositions are disclosed herein, including methods of using such compositions to form low/zero volatile organic compound (VOC) dry erasable coatings. The multi-part dry erase composition comprises a mixture of a first part and a second part, wherein the first part comprises a curable epoxy resin, such as an aromatic epoxide with diglycidyl epoxy functionality, and the second part comprises an amine curing agent, such as cycloaliphatic polyamine. The one-part compositions comprise monomers, oligomers, and polymers of an aliphatic or aromatic isocyanate, such as a diisocyanate, and an amine curing agent, such as morpholine and derivatives thereof. The dry erase compositions have a VOC content of less than about 25 g/L. Dry erasable coatings also include the abilities to dry erase additional markings in addition to dry erase markers, to include, but not limited to, regular marker, permanent marker, pen, highlighter, crayon, and spray paints. The dry erasable coatings can also withstand wet erasing, cleaning, and deep cleaning, with more aggressive cleaning chemicals like acetone, xylene, and Goof-Off brand aerosol cleaner while still maintaining its dry erasable features.
Abstract:
The present invention provides, among other things, compositions with at least one dry-erase characteristic and methods thereof. In some embodiments, provided paint composition comprising a resin part comprising an epoxy, a polysiloxane and an organooxysilane; and a cure part comprising one or more amino-silanes; the resin part and the cure part being designed and selected such that, when combined together, they cure to form a clear surface coating that demonstrates at least one dry-erase characteristic, wherein the composition is substantially free of any opacifying agent or pigment.
Abstract:
Solvent-based coatings having writable-erasable surfaces are provided. The coatings have many desirable attributes. For example, the coatings cure rapidly under ambient conditions, have low VOC emissions upon curing, and have reduced tendency to form ghost images, even after prolonged normal use.

Water-based coatings having writable-erasable surfaces are provided. The coatings have many desirable attributes. For example, the coatings cure under ambient conditions, have low or no VOC emissions during and upon curing, and have reduced tendency to form ghost images, even after prolonged normal use.
Abstract:
Information boards include a graphic layer and a transparent or translucent dry erase writing surface. The information boards include one or more non-permanent attachment mechanisms that allow for selective removal and replacement of the graphic layer. Additionally, the information boards can optionally include a magnetically attractable layer positioned behind the graphic layer. The magnetically attractable layer can allow for the attachment of notes or other objects to the dry erase writing surface via a magnet. One will appreciate that implementations of the present invention are particularly suited for use in homes, schools, hospitals, businesses, and other locations where removing and replacing a graphic layer in a dry erase board may be desired.

Abstract:
The present invention provides a display board assembly including a display board having a dry-erase surface, a recess in the dry-erase surface of the display board, and a support member removably received at least partially within the recess and defining at least one receptacle configured to receive at least one of a dry-erase marker and an eraser.
Abstract:
A tablet that is suitable for use underwater or in any extreme environment is provided. The tablet is designed, through the use of buoyant materials such as polystyrene, to have a slightly negative buoyancy at a depth of about fifty feet so that it can be very easy to manipulate underwater and will not sink or ascend rapidly if let go. A length of waterproof (plastic) vellum is stretched between two rollers to form a drawing or writing surface thereby enabling the user to easily record information on the vellum.
Abstract:
A mountable writing assembly includes a cover member, a visually transparent writing member, a replaceable sheet for displaying personalized information or images, and a backing member removably retained in the cover member. A method of allowing a user to create a customized dry-erase board is also disclosed.
