Abstract:
A tablet-type device that is suitable for use underwater or in a severe environment is provided. A length of waterproof vellum is stretched between two rollers to form a surface for recording information. The tablet is designed to be very easy to manipulate underwater, such as not to sink or ascend rapidly if let go. On the other hand, the device also includes provisions to allow the device to be secured to the user, another device, a surface, etc.
Abstract:
A hand-held device for managing documents or cards and associated light sources both for illuminating the documents in use, and an adjacent object or person. The hand-held device described herein provides the capability to individuals working in unlit or dimly lit areas the ability to view a document or record information while being able to illuminate another subject, without the use of a separate flashlight.
Abstract:
A low cost document holder automatically illuminates a document under low light conditions. An energy-saving system having a switch that turns on a lamp when a front cover is at an angle to a rear cover of between 45 and 135 degrees. The lamp is turned off when the angle is less than 45 degrees or greater than 135 degrees to prevent battery drain when the holder is left open or cannot completely close. Optimized lamp positioning places a centerline of a cone of illumination at a maximum of thirty degrees from the front cover to enable use of a low wattage lamp. The resultant low battery drain enables the components to be permanently enclosed in a document holder cover that has the appearance, dimensions and thickness of standard document holders. Advantages of components enclosed within a cover are reliability, ease of cleaning, market entry and low cost manufacture.

Abstract:
The assistive desktops and modules disclosed are for use as an occupational therapy product, educational assistive tool, corrective and supportive handwriting assistive tool and ergonomic aid. They provide ergonomic positional, postural and functional support for the tasks of writing, reading or manipulation of materials typically used on a flat, horizontal surface during normal classroom, office and home office activities. This support is provided without obstruction of view of the environment or other materials and provides additional support of reference materials. They are intended to be portable; provide secure or mobile placement; and adjust to accommodate a variety of users and needs, including normal and learning/physically challenged individuals. They are intended to be used by individuals with conditions such as learning and/or physical disabilities; postural conditions such as osteoporosis, arthritis or chronic pain; as well as those desiring a more comfortable, ergonomic work surface.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed generally to apparatus and method for facilitating improved efficiency, convenience, and device organization and protection for data acquisition with improved efficiency and organization, for example, while on the run or in the field. For example, in various embodiments the invention may include one or more quick locking and quick opening means for storage compartment(s), for example, one or more spring actuated and locking drawers may be included in a clipboard with one or more storage compartment(s). The quick locking and quick opening means may be spring operated to as to push the storage compartment open when actuated and/or to lock the storage compartment into place when the storage compartment is closed. The clipboard and storage apparatus may also be designed to be lightweight, durable and versatile by including a rubber over molded base, a contoured base, and/or may have a smudge resistant clear coat finish.
Abstract:
A tablet that is suitable for use underwater or in any extreme environment is provided. The tablet is designed, through the use of buoyant materials such as polystyrene, to have a slightly negative buoyancy at a depth of about fifty feet so that it can be very easy to manipulate underwater and will not sink or ascend rapidly if let go. A length of waterproof (plastic) vellum is stretched between two rollers to form a drawing or writing surface thereby enabling the user to easily record information on the vellum.
Abstract:
A Waist-supported Writing Surface in the short term clipped or clamped by hand to clothes or material about a person's waist line, preferred location or equivalent bodily structure. Hand operated and body having hingedly collapsible surface(s) for holding working papers and the like is connected hingedly to a support member, primarily to be used when collapsible planar horizontal surface(s) are open and support member is used, to read and write while walking, sitting, standing and talking on phone. Supporting and or storing utensils, accessories and numerous forms of writing and reading media one's self, including, but not limited to paper, a notebook, a book, or a combination thereof.
