The control device has stored therein a control program which can be activated in the event of a web break. The control program has an emergency stop ramp which brakes the motors to a standstill by jerked stop, preferably within five revolutions, the program driving the motors along the stop ramp in the event of a web break.

    摘要: A system and method for preventing a broken printing web from wrapping about or otherwise fouling the blanket cylinders of printing press units. The system and method includes a web tensioning device located downstream of the printing press units for maintaining tension upon a broken web and pulling the web from the printing press units. The device includes a plurality of web disturbance detectors for detecting a wave, ripple or other disturbance indicative of a web break. A pair of anti-wrap rollers located above and below the web are engaged upon detection of a web break to engage the web between them to exert tension onto the web and pull it from the printing units. The anti-wrap rollers are rotated at a surface speed nominally greater than the surface speed of the printing rolls. The anti-wrap rollers include a plurality of opposed peak and valley portions which enable them to interlock and grip the web along a line of contact. The system and method also includes a flow bar system to reduce false detections of a web break. A blow-down bar is also used to force air, or some other fluid, downward on a broken web so as to harmlessly force the broken web to the ground as it exits the web tensioning device. A series of sensors which project two beams in the form of a crossing pattern are utilized to more rapidly and accurately detect a web break.

    摘要: A method for detecting disruptions in the transport of a web in a rotary printing press. A speed evaluation is performed on the web and then analyzed, including a comparison of a contactless measurement of the instantaneous speed (VPAP(t)) of the web with a speed selected from the group of speeds of the web consisting of: 1. a virtual speed (VVIRT(t) which is evaluated from the mechanical speed of the press, 2. an average speed (VAVE(t)) measured during a time before the last measurement, and 3. a speed (VPAP (t.sub.k-1)) measured at the moment immediately before the moment when an instantaneous speed (VPAP(t.sub.k)) is measured. The analysis is performed to obtain a respective speed difference, and to compare the respective speed difference with a respective prescribed threshold value. If the speed difference is not within the threshold value, a signal is generated which indicates that the web is not traveling at the proper speed.

    摘要: A system and method for preventing a broken printing web from wrapping about or otherwise fouling the blanket cylinders of printing press units. The system and method includes a web tensioning device located downstream of the printing press units for maintaining tension upon a broken web and pulling the web from the printing press units. The sensor includes a transmitter for transmitting a monitoring beam to the web and a receiver for receiving part of the monitoring beam returned from the web. The receiver is connected to a signal processor for measuring the interval between the transmitting and the receiving. The signal processor produces a control pulse to the machine when the interval exceeds a predetermined tolerated range. The signal processor is a computer programmed such that the tolerated range is set larger prior to the arrival of the signal than after the arrival.

    摘要: To capture a torn web traveling at high speed after receiving printed subject matter from a printing machine, the web is guided between a pair of capturing rollers (1, 55) which, in normal operation, pass the web without contact with the rollers therebetween. Upon sensing of a torn web, a "torn web" signal modifies the diameter of one of the rollers to engage against the other, with the torn web therebetween. This system eliminates moving the axes of rotation of the rollers. Expansion of the diameter of the expandable roller is achieved by forming the roller of part-cylindrical segments which are retained by pivot levers (9, 54) on a rotating spindle (13), the levers being movable under spring pressure (16) from a sharply inclined to a more erected position to thereby move the segments (2, 3, 4) outwardly. A sear (20, 21) releases spring pressure. Centrifugal force due to rotation of the rollers assists in rapid expansion of the effective diameter of the expandable roller.
