摘要: A screen-printing unit in a printing machine comprises a screen cylinder which carries a screen-printing stencil and in which a squeegee is moved, from the inside, into contact with, and away from the screen-printing stencil. The screen cylinder is moved into contact with an impression cylinder, such that a printing position is formed, and is moved away therefrom, such that a gap is formed. The screen cylinder is moved away from the impression cylinder, in a first phase, when the squeegee is in a non-contacting position. In a second phase, at least one sheet of printing material is passed through the printing position when the squeegee continues to be in a non-contacting position and the screen cylinder is at least temporarily in a contacting position. For subsequent sheets of printing material, in a third phase, the screen-printing unit is operated with the squeegee one of permanently and cyclically, such as at least once for each sheet of printing material, in a contacting position.

摘要: This invention discloses a numbering and imprinting machine including a number cylinder, moving inker, first cleaning device, second cleaning device, inker position detector, and control device. The number cylinder includes at least one numbering device. The moving inker includes a number inker which supplies ink onto the number cylinder, and is movable between a printing position at which the number inker comes into contact with the number cylinder, and a retraction position at which the number inker separates from the number cylinder. The first cleaning device cleans the number cylinder. The second cleaning device cleans the number inker. The inker position detector detects the position of the moving inker. When the inker position detector detects that the moving inker is set at the printing position, the control device rotates the number cylinder, drives the number inker and controls cleaning operations by the first cleaning device and the second cleaning device.

摘要: A method for registering a rotary press for a printing process, in which “n” inking systems (Fn) each produce monochrome printed images and print one on top of the other thereby producing n-colored printed images, includes producing the images of a printed material with at least one sensor station, recording information on rotary movements of printing plate cylinders (Dn), and using the images and the information to produce correction signals which actuate the cylinders until a deviation of the images of the respective inking systems from a desired position on the material lies within a defined range of tolerance values. During the registering method, one printing plate cylinder at a time is in the printing position, the sensor station produces the printed images, and the correction signals are obtained based on the image produced by the respective cylinder and the information on the rotary movements of at least one cylinder.

摘要: An offset perfecting press is disclosed which has a pair of blanket cylinders on opposite sides of a web traveling along a predefined path. Bearing different images to be printed, two plate cylinders are disposed in circumferentially spaced apart positions on each blanket cylinder. Each plate cylinder is independently movable between an image transfer position, where the plate cylinder is held to the blanket cylinder in order to print an image thereon for subsequent transfer to the web, and an image nontransfer position where the plate cylinder is spaced from the blanket cylinder. Only one plate cylinder is held in the image transfer position on each side of the web. For a change from one image to another, the plate cylinders that have been printing the opposite sides of the web are retracted to the image nontransfer positions, and the other plate cylinders, rotating in phase with the blanket cylinders, are moved to the image transfer positions. There is no need for stopping the web or the blanket cylinders. An electronic control system is provided for automatic image conversion. A multiple-unit, multiple-tower, multiple-web rotary press is also disclosed which comprises a multiplicity of printing units, including one or more constructed as in the foregoing, which are arranged in multiple towers for concurrently printing multiple webs under automatic control.

摘要: Various components in a rotary printing press are driven by suitable electric motors. Each component and its associated drive motor is provided with an angle position sensor. A tolerance range for the rotary angular position of each electric motor is selected. If the actual instantaneous angular position of the motor or component falls outside of the tolerance range, the rotary printing press is stopped.

摘要: An arrangement for preventing damage to print units, in which during a failure of the electrical supply of the web-fed rotary printing press, an energy reservoir yields its energy to control means which briefly charge adjusting means to bring at least one cylinder per print unit into a neutral pressure release position. In this way paper wrap-arounds during voltage failure no longer act in a manner damaging to the press.

摘要: A description of a method and a device for monitoring the braking of a D.C. motor of a printing machine such as a sheet-fed offset printing machine is given. For safety purposes, in the case of an emergency stop an electrical braking should always be carried out with the maximum torque of the D.C. motor. For this purpose, the disclosed method provides that the actual value of the armature current is detected and compared to a maximum permissible value for the electrical braking. In the event of an impermissibly high deviation and, in particular, in the event of an undershoot of the armature current relative to the maximum permissible value, the power converter and motor are disconnected from the power supply and an electrically actuable brake is applied to the motor.

摘要: In a sheet-fed offset press having at least one printing unit in which the blanket cylinder can be thrown on and off the impression cylinder and plate cylinder by a pressure-medium-energized actuating arrangement, the pressure medium energization is triggered by a control unit in accordance with the position of grip edge zones of the cylinders being in registration. In order to ensure that throwing on and throwing off take place when the grip edge zones of the cylinders are positioned immediately opposite one another, the control unit detects the position of the printing unit cylinders relatively to one another by way of an angular position sensor and also detects the actual speed of the press via a speed sensor. The control unit forms speed-dependent throw-on and throw-off actuating times which are advanced in the direction of rotation of the printing unit cylinders so that the reaction time is outside the time slot for grip edge zone registration. The invention reduces the very substantial constructional outlay needed in the case of pressure-medium-energized actuating arrangements to ensure reliable throw-on and throw-off at high printing speeds.

摘要: An inching drive mechanism which affords the capability of rotating the plate and blanket cylinders of a printing press in an automated fashion by utilizing a hydraulically powered motor, a gear train and a pneumatic clutch. The hydraulic motor produces torque which is transmitted via the gear train to the pneumatic clutch. When the pneumatic clutch is engaged, the torque is transmitted to and rotates the plate and blanket cylinders of the printing press.
