    摘要: A welding unit for forming defining weld lines in an elongate web, preferably in a bag-making machine, includes a drive means, which is arranged in an endless loop, and at least one sealing jaw. The sealing jaw is connected to the drive means for movement along said loop. A fixed guide means extends in an endless loop essentially in parallel with the drive means. Each sealing jaw is received on a carriage, which is connected to the drive means and has at least one follower element, which is adapted to abut against and move along the guide means.

    摘要: In the bag pack disclosed herein, a plurality of thermoplastic "T-shirt-type" carry bags are joined together in a pack by both a hot weld around a central rack-mounting aperture and also by readily frangible pressure bonds linking the film layers forming the bag handles to allow for handle support while on a rack dispensing system. A "pull tab" adjacent the aperture is provided to allow easy opening of each bag in the pack.

    摘要: This relates to a device for pinching off a length of a continuous tube and heat sealing the same, together with a cutting off of the closed end tube portion. A pivot is provided on which there is mounted a pair of blade like members each carrying a heat sealing member with the heat sealing members being cooperable both to flatten or pinch the tube and to heat seal together the pinched together portion of the tube. A blade element is also carried by the pivot and is cooperable with the heat sealing members to cut off the pinched and heat sealed tube portion. Plungers are provided for effecting the pivoting of the blade like members and the blade elements and the plungers are carried by guide sleeves which extend through a machine wall with there being on the opposite side of the machine wall suitable drive means for effecting the controlled reciprocation of the plungers.

    摘要: A pouch making machine which simultaneously creates perimeter seams for a plurality of pouches on a web and temporarily stores the seamed web in an accumulator at the conclusion of the seaming step, and then withdraws the web from the accumulator to sever the individual pouches from the web. The individual pouches are severed from the web by a cutoff knife that is moving at the same velocity as the web during the cut. The withdrawal of the web from the accumulator is carried on independent of the seaming step, except that regulating means is included to make the long term average web speed the same through the seaming step as through the cutoff step.

    摘要: Apparatus for heat sealing a pair of hems in a moving web of film having structure including a pair of spaced surfaces over which each hem of the pair of hems is adapted to pass. A first block is supported by the structure with respect to one of the surfaces and on one side of one of the hems. A plurality of rollers is mounted on the first block at spaced locations in tandem for engaging the film along the path of the heat seal to be formed in the one hem. A second block is supported by the structure with respect to the other of the surfaces and on one side of the second hem. The second block has a plurality of rollers mounted thereon at spaced locations in tandem for engaging the film along the path of a heat seal to be formed in the second hem. Heaters are provided for each of the blocks and the respective plurality of rollers whereby movement of the hems through the heat sealing apparatus causes the plurality of rollers mounted on the blocks to rotate and produce the heat seals in the pair of hems. Mounted on the structure between the pair of hems is a plurality of back-up rollers for engaging the film along the path of the heat seals to be formed in the hems and cooperating with the heated rollers on the blocks in creating the heat seals in the pair of hems.

    摘要: A device for welding foils, webs or bags having differing thickness along a line to be welded at right angles to a conveying direction includes a pair of elongated welding dies movable relative to one another and one of which has an elongated, periodically heatable electric resistance heating element having serially-connected sections of differing electrical resistance along its length defined by zonal variations in cross sectional area of the heating element, e.g., areas of differing heating element width. Each section of differing resistance corresponds in length and position to the differing thickness along the line to be welded and is so dimensioned that, prior to initial contact with that line to be welded, the heating element has a higher temperature in the zones of lesser cross-sectional area corresponding to the thicker areas of the line to be welded than at a the at the zones of greater cross sectional area corresponding to the thinner areas thereof. The zonal variations in cross-sectional area are so dimensioned that the heating element has a constant temperature over its entire length immediately after contacting te line to be welded to form a continuous weld.
