Abstract: An injection molding device includes a housing having a door, an injection molding machine, a detection section, and a control section. The control section controls voltage applied to the mold clamping motor, and performs mold-clamping and mold-opening of the upper mold and the lower mold by either moving the injection unit and the upper mold along the vertical direction or by moving the lower mold along the vertical direction. The mold clamping device further includes a first brake section that, when application of voltage to the mold clamping motor is stopped, regulates movement of the injection unit and the upper mold in the vertical direction or movement of the lower mold in the vertical direction. When the detection section detects that the door is open or detects intrusion of foreign matter, the control section stops application of voltage to the mold clamping motor.

It ensures the connection of the two parts of the mold when the mold is not mounted on the injection molding machine.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for actuating a valve stem between an open position and a closed position and for taking one or more valve gated nozzle out of service is disclosed. The hot runner includes a valve gated nozzle having a valve stem, the valve stem coupled to a piston that is held against an actuation plate via pressurized air. When a valve stem becomes stuck in a gate of the hot runner, the actuation plate can continue to move while the piston remains stationary. The valve stem may also be protected from an over force situation such as if the valve stem encounters an obstruction as the actuation plate is moving toward the closed position.

Abstract: Methods of monitoring and controlling a molding process using a sensed change in strain provided by a strain gauge are provided. A target strain profile is created for a molding process of a molding apparatus. An upper and lower deviation limit from the target strain profile for the molding process is provided. If a sensed change in strain exceeds a deviation limit, an alarm is activated.
