摘要: A cemented carbide end mill has three or more cutting edges formed on its periphery and flutes each provided between adjacent cutting edges. The land width of each cutting edge and the flute width has a ratio of 1:1.5 to 1:4. Each flute has a helix angle of 35null-60null and, when viewed in a cross section perpendicular to the end mill axis, is in a shape smoothly concave radially inwardly. The core of the end mill has a diameter which is 62%-68% of the outer diameter of the end mill. The cutting edges have a base material of ultra-fine cemented carbide and are coated with a titanium-aluminum nitride hard film. The end mill is good at chip discharging in groove cutting and provides less inclination of cut grooves and less corner wear of the end mill.

摘要: An improved solid cemented carbide ball nose end mill is provided which enables a cutting of a quenched or hardened difficult-to-machine material without any chipping or break of edge under the condition of a high speed and high load cutting. The improved end mill comprises a substantially semi-spherical ball nose portion provided with such cutting edges as to form a virtually S-shaped symmetrical configuration as viewed from the tip end and a tool body integral with said ball nose portion and having a peripheral cylindrical portion being provided with no peripheral cutting edge and a shank at the rear end thereof. The cutting edges extending from the tip end of the ball nose portion to the respective terminals positioned at the furthest at the vicinity of the border between the ball nose portion and the tool body are formed in the ball nose portion only. Preferably, each of a rake angle and a relief angle of the cutting edge is set between 0.degree. and -10.degree., and between 6.degree. and 16.degree., respectively, further the cutting edges are coated with a titanium-aluminum nitride based material film.

The top several layers of the coating film are missing partially or completely in an area where the tool is brought into frictional contact with a workpiece. At least one oxide layer (such as Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 layer) is included in the missing layers. This increases wear resistance of the coated hard alloy tool.

摘要: Even if chips enter a gap between a flank face and a surface to be worked, the defect of the flank face or a cutting edge is suppressed by the control of the flow of the chips. A plurality of cutting edges, which are undulated in wave forms in a direction of an axis, are formed on an outer periphery of a front end portion of an end mill body rotating about the axis so that phases of the wave forms are displaced from each other in a path of rotation about the axis; flank faces of the cutting edges are covered with a coating film; and rough surface regions and smooth surface regions are alternately formed on the surface of at least portions of the coating film, which are close to the cutting edges, in the direction of the axis.

摘要: The face miller is equipped with a plurality of plate-shaped hard material cutting inserts that are distributed over the circumference. The hard material cutting inserts are located on a graduated circle in pockets of a blade carrier and have a main cutting edge, which is adjusted at a cutting edge angle smaller than 90° relative to the working plane of the miller. In order to ensure maximum machining performance at a good service life, the cutting edge angle is selected to range between 10° and 30°, wherein the main cutting edge at the same time has a slightly convex design. The main cutting edge transitions into the secondary cutting edge via a transition radius having a value that ranges between 0.5 and 1.5 mm. The axial rake angle ranges between 20 and 30°. According to an advantageous further development, the radial rake angle ranges between −6° and −10°.

The sulfur has a concentration distribution in which a concentration of the sulfur decreases in a direction away from a base-material-side surface of the α-Al2O3 layer, in a thickness direction of the α-Al2O3 layer.
