    Abstract: A reverse spot-facing tool for cutting a reverse spot-face in a workpiece using a reverse spot-facing cutter configured to engage a pilot shaft having a first end and a second end is disclosed. The workpiece comprises a through hole having a central axis. The reverse spot-facing tool comprises a stop configured to be located between the first end and the second end of the pilot shaft; a biasing assembly that generates a first thrust force and an equal and opposite second thrust force when the reverse spot-facing cutter is cutting the reverse spot face; and a thrust bearing configured to be positioned between the biasing assembly and the stop. When the reverse spot-facing cutter is cutting the reverse spot-face, the thrust bearing transmits the second thrust force from the biasing assembly to the stop, and the biasing assembly transmits the first thrust force to the workpiece.

    Abstract: A drill chuck assembly. The drill chuck assembly includes a rapid change mechanism configured to retain a drill bit shank inserted therein. The drill chuck assembly includes a body having a bore with a trilobe cross-section that is configured to receive a triangular and hexagonally shaped drill bit shank, interchangeably. The bore includes a slot positioned in each lobe that slidably contains a detent ball therein. A collar is affixed annularly around the body and defines a channel extending around the body. A sleeve is slidably mounted around the body. The sleeve includes a tapered end that is slidably disposed within the channel and has circular apertures that are in communication with the slots of the bore for reception of the detent balls. The sleeve is spring biased towards the collar, which forces the detent balls against an angular wall within the channel. The angular wall in turn forces the detent balls laterally towards a center of the bore, thereby exerting a force on a drill bit shank inserted into the bore and preventing the withdrawal of the shank from the bore. When the bias force of the sleeve is counteracted by sliding the sleeve about its longitudinal axis, the detent balls move outwardly along the angular wall, thereby relieving the force exerted onto the shank by the wall and allowing the shank to be withdrawn.

    Abstract: A holder for a cutting tool includes a body having a first channel for receiving a stem portion of the cutting tool. The body has a second channel intersecting with the first channel.     Abstract: A tool for rotary cutting machining includes a tool body and a replaceable cutting head detachably attachable to the tool body. At its front end, the tool body is provide with two coupling legs projecting in an axial direction. The respective coupling leg is provided with a stop surface for transferring torque from the tool body to the cutting head, which stop surface is designed for abutment against a corresponding stop surface of the cutting head. The respective coupling leg is provided with a shoulder protruding from the stop surface of the coupling leg. The cutting head is provided with two shoulders facing the front end of the cutting head and arranged on opposite sides of the center axis of the cutting head, which shoulders border on a respective one of said stop surfaces of the cutting head and are arranged to extend in under a respective one of said shoulders of the coupling legs of the tool body when the cutting head is attached to the tool body, so as to thereby present the cutting head from being displaced in axial direction away from the tool body. The invention also relates to a tool body and a cutting head included in such a tool.

    Abstract: A drill chuck has a chuck body, a holder body, and a front sleeve surrounding the bodies, with jaws between them. A ring of teeth on one of the bodies can be engaged by a pawl angularly fixed on the other of the bodies. When engaged, the pawl and the array of teeth allow rotate relative to the chuck body in a tightening direction but not in a loosening direction. Respective interengaging stops on the other body and on the front sleeve limit relative angular movement of the front sleeve on the other body between a pair of angularly offset end positions. A back control sleeve has a cam formation engageable with the pawl in only one of the end positions to hold the pawl in the freeing position. The pawl is biased by a spring in the other end position into the locking position.
