    Abstract: The invention relates to a hold-down device for a joining drive and joining drive with a hold-down device. The hold-down device includes a hold-down cylinder, wherein the hold-down cylinder provides a hold-down force by means of a pressurized chamber. The pressure chamber consists of the hold-down cylinder and a punch of the joining drive. The pressurization required for the provision of the hold-down force is provided by a hydraulic circuit of the joining drive. In the joining mode, the pressure chamber of the hold-down device is connected to a pressure accumulator of the hold-down device, so that a change in volume in the pressure chamber of the hold-down device has no noticeable influence on the pressure in the pressure chamber.

    Abstract: A mouthpiece for a setting device setting a blind rivet element is disclosed which comprises a hollow, which may be a hollow-cylindrical, body having an abutting end and a central through bore through which a pulling mandrel of the setting device is movable. Further, a first endless sealing is arranged adjacent to the central through bore at the abutting end for abutting at a head portion of the blind rivet element. Additionally, a second endless sealing is arranged radially outwardly of the first endless sealing at the abutting end for abutting at a component. Finally, a fluid channel extends at least partly through the hollow, which may be a hollow-cylindrical, body such that an exit opening is provided between the first and the second endless sealing and an entry opening for supplying a testing fluid is provided, which may be remote to the abutting end.

    Abstract: Non-visible objects which differ in their physical properties from their surroundings by association with a variable strength magnetic field may be detected by a suitable array of sensors which can be moved relative to the object in question. By analyzing the signals from the plurality of the sensors in the array, the position of the object can be deduced relative to the array and the array moved to enable a machining guide thereon to be aligned with the non-visible object. The system is of particular value in locating apertures in wing spars when attempting to fix the skin of the wing on to them where it is important to be able to locate the correct point at which to drill a hole through the skin to coincide with the hole in the spar. By defining a magnetic field in the vicinity of the hole to identify the hole magnetically and using an array of magnetic field sensors in a base with an aperture, it is possible to shift the array so that the aperture is precisely aligned with the non-visible hole.
