    摘要: A heat-insulated wound hose is formed by a process, in which a metal wound hose is at first upset, such that turns, which are spaced apart by adjacent axial wall areas of individual turns, form at least one uninterrupted jacket wall surface. A ceramic-based coating is subsequently applied to the at least one uninterrupted jacket wall surface. The coating is then cured, and the wound hose thus formed is subsequently pulled apart, whereby adjacent axial wall areas of adjacent turns are detached from one another and thereby the coating is broken up at partitions.

    摘要: An apparatus for expanding metal and forming tubing combines two metal-forming operations into a single process. Tubing, such as that used for filters, is desirably expanded so that air or liquid may pass thru “diamonds” formed in the tubing. Expanding metal and forming tubing is accomplished in a single, continuous process by first slitting and expanding the metal, and then locking its seams to form a spiral pipe. This avoids depending on vendors for delivery of expanded metal at fluctuating prices, eliminates intermediate steps of handling the coils, and eliminates rusting while the expanded steel coils await formation into tubing. Tubing made from expanded metal may be used for air filters, oil filters, water filters, separators and other types of filters. Double-wall HVAC ducting systems or silencers can also use expanded material for reducing heat transfer and noise.

    摘要: A steel strip laminate pipe having increased lap shear strength and peel off strength between the steel layers in the pipe and a method for making such a steel strip pipe are provided. Steel strips coated with a sol-gel or a silane adhesion promoter are wound over an inner lining to form steel layers bonded to each other in a steel strip laminate pipe. In an alternate embodiment, fiber fillers and resin are used to bond the steel layers in the pipe together. In further embodiment, glass sphere and resin are used to bond the steel layers together. The steel strips bonded together using continuous reinforced fiber filler or glass spheres may be coated with sol-gel or silane. In an alternate embodiment, the sol-gel or silane may also be mixed in the resin used to bond the steel layers together.
