Abstract:
The invention relates to a separating device for separating a multiphase medium, comprising a cyclone separating device (1) that provokes an at least partial distribution of at least two phases of said medium with the formation of a vortex flow for the medium. The invention is characterized in that each phase, which has a lower density compared to the respective other phase, is separated from said other phase and can be guided out of the separating device by means of a collecting device (35, 37).
Abstract:
A screen for use in distributing a fluid in a process flow system. The screen provides support, and provides for the ability to clean particulates from the screen. The screen includes profiled wires affixed to a support, where the support provides channels to distribute the fluid over the screen. The support includes spacing to improve the cleaning of particulates from the screen.
Abstract:
A filtration system comprising a plurality of filters (14, 16, 18, 20). Each filter (14, 16, 18, 20) defines a respective filter flowpath extending adjacent a respective filtration medium (24) for tangential filtration by the filtration medium (24) of fluid passing through the filter flowpath. The system also comprises a manifold (32) connected to each filter (14, 16, 18, 20), the system being selectively operable in a first state in which the manifold (32) and the filter flowpaths form part of a first continuous flowpath (92, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44, 101, 56, 48, 50, 52, 54, 58, 88) around which fluid circulates passing in parallel through the filter flowpaths and a second state in which fluid circulates around a second continuous flowpath (94, 82, 86, 98, 101, 48, 58) including the filter flowpath of at least one (14) but not all of the filters, the second continuous flowpath having a lower volume than the first continuous flowpath and fluid passing into the second continuous flowpath from the manifold (32) responsive to tangential filtration in the second state.
Abstract:
Metal candle-type gap filters are used to remove particles from a hot gas stream containing sulfur oxides so that, in the filter cake which is built up upon the candle filters, the sorption reaction can continue as the hot gas stream passes through the filter.
Abstract:
A gaseous fluid purifier comprising at least two disks having a common axis of symmetry or of rotation and spaced apart from each other; the disks are comprised of a roughened material adapted to adsorb impurities from the fluid being purified; the disks may be additionally impregnated with neutralizing, or the like, chemical substance; at least one of the disks is of conical shape; in some embodiments, the distance between the two disks at the peripheries of the disks is smaller than the distance between them at the center; a central aspiration opening of circular shape is provided in at least one of the two disks; rotation of at least one, and more usually both, of the two disks aspirates fluid to be purified through the aspiration opening and between the disks and the purified fluid exits radially from between the disks; in other embodiments, the disks are not conically shaped, but the disk surfaces are shaped to produce discontinuities in the fluid flow.
Abstract:
A separator member is formed of separator elements having the cross section of a substantially obtuse triangle and extending obliquely staggered behind and mutually spaced from one another, one side of the triangle extending parallel to the flow direction, pairs of adjacent separator elements, respectively, defining a flow channel flaring outwardly in downstream flow direction. For direct installation into a steam line, the separator member is of conical construction with annular separator elements of increasing diameter.
Abstract:
A resin sheet contains: a sheet-like substrate of a resin; and wall-like projections (W) of the same resin having a certain height and standing upright on one surface of the substrate. The wall-like projections (W) are arranged on the surface of the substrate in at least 10 parallel rows with a certain spacing, and a large number of the wall-like projections (W), which satisfy the conditions (1) to (5) described in the specification, are present in parallel on the one surface of the substrate. The resin sheet is useful as a directional male hook-and-loop fastener whose male engaging elements are unlikely to break when a force is applied thereto and which does not provide a stimulus to the skin when it touches the surface of the fastener, as a filter for separating fine particles from a fluid, and as a display resin sheet.
Abstract:
Selective etching techniques are used to manufacture a basic filtration element, which can then be used as a basis for constructing various devices for different applications. In this process, sheets of etchable material are etched from one or both sides of that sheet to form channels in a premasked pattern, which controls the minimum opening of the filtration element. The desired channel opening is only limited by the capability of the photochemical etching system being used. Alternatively, a filter element may be made by rolling or extruding a first sheet to form a plurality of recessed areas bordered by lands, selectively etching or punching through the recessed pattern areas, and bonding a second sheet having a plurality of etched or punched through areas to the first sheet, and, aligning the etched through areas to the second sheet with the recessed areas of the first sheet.
