Embodiments of a system may include an energy generator configured to generate a signal. The system may further include at least one antenna configured to receive and transmit the signal. The system may also include a chiller exposed, at least in part, to a housing or cooling fluid that is exposed to a housing of the at least one antenna. The system may additionally include at least one field spreader corresponding to the at least one antenna. Furthermore, the system may include a cooling plate configured to cool an epidermis and a dermis.

    摘要: A dual band antenna mounted to a case of an implantable medical device (IMD) for implant within a patient is provided. The dual band antenna includes a first antenna sub-structure (FAS) and a second antenna sub-structure (SAS) each separately tuned to match a corresponding first and second resonant frequency, by adjusting at least one of relative lengths of the FAS and SAS, a capacitance of the FAS, a location of the SAS relative to the FAS and a cross-sectional area of conducting elements forming the components of the antenna. The FAS is formed as an inverted E-shaped antenna having three branches. The first branch of the antenna is capacitive, a second branch provides a radio frequency signal feed and a third branch provides a shunt to ground. The SAS is formed as a mono-pole antenna that is formed integral with, and extends from, the FAS.

    摘要: Systems and methods for delivering microwave energy to skin are provided, such that a focal zone of destructive heat is generated in the upper sub-dermis, mid-dermis, and/or lower dermis. This microwave therapy may be used for hair removal, treatment of acne, skin tightening, treatment of toe nail fungus, or sweat reduction. According to one embodiment, a system can include a microwave applicator having a distal treatment portion that includes at least one microwave antenna, a cooling system, and vacuum features. In some embodiments, the interaction between incident waves transmitted from the microwave applicator and reflected waves may be used to generate a standing wave with a peak energy density in selected regions of the dermis.

The apparatus has contains a signal generator, a signal modulator and an emitter to enable the apparatus to provide hyperthermia treatment. Hyperthermia therapy may be provided to a living subject by generating a signal, selectably modulating the signal and delivering the signal to the target location on the living subject. It is possible to interrupt any further use of the apparatus after a predetermined period.

    摘要: A system and method for treating subcutaneous histological features without affecting adjacent tissues adversely employs microwave energy of selected power, frequency and duration to penetrate subcutaneous tissue and heat target areas with optimum doses to permanently affect the undesirable features. The frequency chosen preferentially interacts with the target as opposed to adjacent tissue, and the microwave energy is delivered as a short pulse causing minimal discomfort and side effects. By distributing microwave energy at the skin over an area and adjusting power and frequency, different conditions, such as hirsuitism and telangiectasia, can be effectively treated.

The applicator chamber may include: an opening adapted to receive the applicator; an attachment mechanism positioned in the applicator chamber and adapted to attach the tissue interface module to the applicator; a sealing member positioned at a proximal side of the applicator chamber; and a vacuum interface positioned at a proximal side of the applicator chamber and adapted to receive a vacuum inlet positioned on a distal end of the applicator.
