摘要: A positive exhalation pressure device (1) is described. The device (1) comprises a housing (2) having an annular chamber (5), a chamber inlet (6) configured to permit air into the chamber, a chamber outlet (7) configured to permit air out of the chamber, and a mouthpiece (8) in fluid communication with the chamber inlet. A movable body such as a ball (3) is disposed in the housing within the annular chamber and configured to revolve around the annular chamber in response to flow of air through the chamber from the chamber inlet to the chamber outlet. The movable body is configured to at least partially block the chamber outlet as it revolves around the annular chamber causing cyclical fluctuations in airflow resistance.

摘要: An oscillating positive expiratory pressure apparatus having a housing defining a chamber, a chamber inlet, a chamber outlet, a deformable restrictor member positioned in an exhalation flow path between the chamber inlet and the chamber outlet, and an oscillation member disposed within the chamber. The deformable restrictor member and the oscillation member are moveable between an engaged position, where the oscillation member is in contact with the deformable restrictor member and an disengaged position, where the oscillation member is not in contact with the deformable restrictor member. The deformable restrictor member and the oscillation member move from the engaged position to the disengaged position in response to a first exhalation pressure at the chamber inlet, and move from the disengaged position to an engaged position in response to a second exhalation pressure at the chamber inlet.

摘要: A gas-washout vent includes a housing with a first wall with one or more passages through the wall configured to provide fluid communication with a portion of the patient interface system exposed to a therapy pressure. The passages include respective first openings on a first surface of the first wall. The housing at least partially defines a second opening in communication with ambient atmosphere. A diffusing material is located at least partially within the housing to be adjacent the first surface. A surface of the diffusing material facing the first surface is spaced away from the first surface by a gap that extends to provide a fluid communication between all of the first openings and between all of the first openings and the second opening. The housing is configured so that air is prevented from flowing out of the housing at all areas directly opposite each of the first openings.

摘要: An inhalation device for inhaling a vaporized substance that includes metering capabilities to inform a user when a particular amount of substance has been consumed. The device includes an inlet having an opening, an outlet, a processor, an atomizer configured to vaporize an unvaporized substance into a vaporized substance. The device further includes a channel positioned between the atomizer and the outlet, wherein the vaporized substance flows downstream from the atomizer to the outlet via the channel, a light signal device, wherein the light signal device emits light, and a light sensor, wherein the light sensor senses the light from the light signal device. In addition, the light signal device and the sensor are positioned in the channel such that the vaporized substance can flow past the sensor and the light signal device, the opening is configured to allow entry of air into the device that flows to the atomizer, the inlet is configured such that the air flows at a substantially constant rate, and the processor, using the substantially constant rate and the data from the light sensor, is configured to meter an amount of vapor consumed by a user.
