    摘要: Method for transferring one or more portions of fluid from a specimen tube, comprising: providing an elongate connector comprising an elongated tube having a lumen or through-hole extending between proximal and distal ends thereof, a Luer-compatible female taper provided on the proximal end of the connector, a flange provided proximate the distal end of the connector; providing a tube seal mounted on the distal end of the connector, the tube seal comprising an elastomeric member having a longitudinal axis, a proximal end, a distal end, and a through-hole extending therebetween, the distal end having a frustoconical or chamfered face forming a funnel, the elastomeric member having an outer diameter sized to sealingly engage with an inner surface of the specimen tube; advancing the distal end of the connector and the tube seal into the specimen tube, the funnel directing the first layer into the through-hole of the connector.

    摘要: The present invention includes a spray drying disposable device for use in a spray drying system. The disposable has a spray drying head and a plasma drying chamber. The head has a spray dry nozzle assembly in fluid communication with the plasma source and the pressurized aerosol gas source. The pressurized gas flows in a vortex pattern that atomizes plasma droplets in the chamber. The head also includes a plenum has uniform air pressure of the drying gas. A baffle plate forms the floor of the plenum having drying gas jets that supply drying gas to the chamber. The atomized plasma droplets evaporate in the presence of the drying gas emitted from the jets to obtain dried plasma particles and humid air. A capture filter captures the dried plasma particles and allows the humid air to pass. The humid air passes through the gas outlet and the exhaust port.

    摘要: The present invention relates to compositions and methods for the treatment of infection caused by Streptococcus pneumonia. In particular, the invention provides human hyperimmune globulin and compositions thereof for preventing or treating pneumococcal infection. The invention provides methods of producing hyperimmune globulin containing high titers of opsonophagocytic anti-pneumococcal antibodies, compositions containing same, and methods of using the compositions for the prevention and treatment of pneumococcal infection. The invention further provides methods of preventing or treating pneumococcal infection (e.g., upper respiratory infections (e.g., bronchitis, otitis, sinusitis, etc.)) in immunocompromised subjects via administration of hyperimmune globulin compositions of the invention (e.g., containing a high titer of opsonophagocytic anti-pneumococcal antibodies) to immunocompromised subjects.
