摘要: An orthodontic appliance is disclosed and which cooperates with both the upper and lower dental arches of a patient and which includes an archwire coupler which is attached to individual archwires that are releasably attached to individual orthodontic brackets on the anterior facing surface of a patient's teeth requiring orthodontic treatment; and a multiple section elongated telescoping assembly which is rotatably and releasably coupled to the archwires attached to the upper and lower dental arches of a patient undergoing treatment, and wherein the multiple section elongated telescoping assembly effects movement of the upper dental arch in a rearward direction, and the lower dental arch in a forward direction when the multiple section elongated telescoping assembly is in a given position along a predetermined course of travel.

摘要: Methods for fabricating orthodontic appliances are described herein. In some embodiments, a method includes fabricating a shell including a plurality of cavities shaped to receive teeth, fabricating a discontinuity in the shell, and fabricating an elastic member positioned to interact with the discontinuity. At least one of the shell, the discontinuity, or the elastic member can be fabricated using a direct fabrication technique.

摘要: Methods of planning dental treatments are provided. In some embodiments, a method includes determining a plurality of stages for incremental repositioning of a patient's teeth. The method can include determining, for at least one stage, a shape of a corresponding dental appliance body, and generating instructions for direct fabrication of the dental appliance body. The dental appliance body can include a support formed in a tooth-receiving cavity, one or more coupling structures formed proximate to the support, and an attachment formed proximate to the one or more coupling structures. The dental appliance body can be configured to align the attachment to a predetermined location on a tooth. The one or more coupling structures can be configured to release the attachment with removal of the dental appliance body from the tooth.

摘要: Methods of fabricating orthodontic appliances are provided. In some embodiments, a method includes determining an appliance geometry for an orthodontic appliance. The appliance geometry can include a plurality of power arms including a first power arm having a first connection point for connecting to a shell, and a second power arm having a second connection point for connecting to the shell or a tooth. The appliance geometry can also include an elongate connecting structure coupled to the first and second power arms, and an elongate counter-force connector coupled to the first power arm and extending toward the second power arm. The elongate connecting structure and the elongate counter-force connector can be coupled to the first power arm at respective locations separate from the first connection point. The elongate connecting structure can be coupled to the second power arm at a location separate from the second connection point.

摘要: A method of building up a dental object includes steps of (i) determining the three-dimensional shape of the object; (ii) mixing at least a first and a second component to form a hardenable composition; (iii) depositing the hardenable composition through a nozzle; (iv) performing steps (ii) and (iii) in combination with moving the nozzle by computer control based on said data. The invention helps providing an object like a dental restoration at maximized geometric and optical quality.

摘要: A magnetic removable orthodontic assembly for moving selected teeth of a patient includes metal engagement plates that are fixed in place in alignment with the selected teeth. A series of wire guides that contain magnets are contacted to the selected teeth by way of engagement with the teeth engagement plates. The engagement plates have first engagement members that engage complementary-shaped second engagement members on the wire guides in a removable fashion. The wire guides are mounted in a pattern to an archwire. The wire guides may be disengaged from their corresponding engagement plates so that the wearer of the appliance can remove and re-engage the device when necessary without having an orthodontist do it.

摘要: A pocket orthodontic bonding pad for attaching orthodontic attachments to teeth wherein the orthodontic attachment is mechanically secured within a bonding pad pocket with a design that allows a slight buffering flexibility under masticatory stress and ease of removal of the orthodontic attachment. Upon removal of locking tabs the orthodontic attachment may be removed with minimal force, and the remaining bonding pad polished from the teeth with ease, which is most advantageous for brackets that tend to break upon removal and create high stress forces upon tooth structure. The ease of removing orthodontic attachments allows maximum bonding strengths.
