Abstract: Measurement control part measures contact pressures and a contact speed of a hand of a contacting person. The contact pressures change over time at respective positions, as measured values respectively based on two sensors when the hand of the contacting person touches sequentially to the two sensors being capable of detecting contact pressure. A determination control part compares measured values with reference ranges respectively, the reference range being a predetermined for a contacted person feeling comfortable when touched by the contacting person, and determines whether or not the measured value is within the reference range for each of measured values. An evaluation control part evaluates that the touching of the contacting person is a comfortable touching when all the measured values are within corresponding reference ranges respectively, and evaluates that the touching of the contacting person is an uncomfortable touching when one measured value is outside the corresponding reference range.

Abstract: A device and method of observing mental condition of a user by interacting with an improved swatch of chain mail mesh that comprises interconnecting, polygonal plastic links suitably interconnected to define a sheet having each of the interconnecting, polygonal links having at least one degree of freedom of movement in at least one direction with respect to its neighbouring polygonal links wherein each of the interconnecting, polygonal links, interconnected to at least one neighbouring interconnecting polygonal link, combine to form an operative upper surface and an operative lower surface of the sheet, and wherein at least a portion of at least one of the operative upper surface and the operative lower surface of the sheet generally feels generally smooth with gaps, which produce a calming or pleasing effect when contacted with or moved over, or combinedly contacted with and moved over a human's body portion which being apt to sense of touch. The sheet has a predetermined drape coefficient, nonlinear motion, and is capable of providing relief in stress or pleasure when a human employs the same. The device is a fidget toy, and when used during observation a diagnosis and a therapy tool.

Abstract: The present invention addresses the problem of providing a system and a method for noninvasively and conveniently diagnosing difficult-to-diagnose chronic pain-related diseases and/or diseases requiring differentiation from the chronic pain-related diseases. The problem was solved by providing a method for obtaining an indicator for determining the presence and/or type of a chronic pain-related disease and/or disease requiring differentiation from chronic pain-related diseases, the method comprising: (a) performing an offset measurement test of pain on a subject that does not suffer from a neurological disorder; (b) analyzing the results obtained from the test in (a); and (c) comparing the analysis results obtained in (b) with a reference value.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for use in screening for and assessing neuropathies, such as severe diabetic neuropathies of the feet, also known as Loss of Protective Sensation (“LOPS”). The methods and apparatuses described herein employ a kit including one or more of an insert having at least one testing instrument attached thereto, the at least one testing instrument comprising at least a holder and a monofilament; an enclosure including inner compartments for holding and securing the insert; a folder having one or more pockets for securing the insert and one or more of a mirror, a packet and other material, such as instructions. The apparatuses safely secure and protect the testing instrument(s) so that the risk of breaking or otherwise damaging the testing instruments during storage and/or shipping is significantly reduced. The methods and apparatuses are easy and low cost to manufacture, easy to use, scalable, and allow users to self-screen/test for, among other things, severe diabetic neuropathies of the feet.

Abstract: A computer-controlled sensory testing system is disclosed that can be used to further pain research and aid in the clinical diagnosis and treatment of pain syndromes. The system includes actuators to deliver pressure/deformation (strain), auditory, olfactory, and other stimuli to a subject. The system includes software to control the delivery of the stimuli. The system is further operable to receive feedback regarding the stimuli received.

Abstract: A therapeutic patch for treating pain capable of compressing a tender area up to a boundary thereof and/or an entire induration with metallic grains or crushed stones by a treatment method in accordance with a classification determined after clarifying a site of pain by pressing a skin with a pressing bar or fingers (first to fourth fingers) to classify the cause of pain, thereby finding the presence of a geographical tender area and/or the presence of an induration on a skin as the cause of pain.
