摘要: Apparatus and associated methods relate to controlling electrical power of an electrotherapeutic signal that is provided to a biological tissue engaged by an electrosurgical instrument during a medical procedure. Electrical power—a product of a voltage difference across and an electrical current conducted by the engaged biological tissue—is controlled according to a therapeutic schedule. The electrotherapeutic schedule can be reduced or terminated in response to a termination criterion being met. In some examples, the termination criterion is a current characteristic, such as, for example, a decrease in current conducted by the engaged biological tissue. In some examples, the termination criterion is a biological tissue resistance characteristic, such as, for example, an increase in the biological tissue resistance that exceeds a predetermined delta resistance value.

摘要: An electrosurgical pencil for use in performing surgery on a surgical site includes a main body forming a handle grippable by user and having open front and rear ends. The pencil has a vent tube open at its forward end, and slidably mounted in the body. The tube is adjustable independently from a retracted position to various extended positions. An elongate electrode is mounted in the tube and independently slidable therein. The electrode is adjustable manually in its longitudinal direction from a retracted position to extended positions. A first conducting strip can be mounted in the vent rube in contact with the electrode. A second conducting strip can be mounted in the main body and is in sliding contact with the first strip in order to provide power to the electrode.

摘要: An electrosurgical connection unit for a surgical robot arm to connect an electrosurgical instrument attached to the arm to an electrosurgical generator. The electrosurgical connection unit includes an input port connectable to the electrosurgical generator, the input port configured to receive a driving electrosurgical signal and output one or more activation signals; an output port connectable to the electrosurgical instrument, the output port configured to output the driving electrosurgical signal received on the input port; one or more activation switch units, wherein activation of an activation switch unit causes an activation signal to be output from the input port indicating a driving electrosurgical signal with a desired waveform is to be activated; and a control unit configured to selectively activate one of the one or more activation switch units in response to a control signal.

摘要: A surgical instrument includes a housing, a shaft extending therefrom, an end effector assembly supported by the shaft, a movable handle, and a drive assembly. The drive assembly includes a translatable drive member for actuating the end effector assembly, and a torsion spring including first and second legs. The first leg is configured to translate through the housing in response to movement of the movable handle relative to the housing. The second leg is configured to translate through the housing in cooperation with the first leg to move the drive member longitudinally when a force acting on the drive member is less than a threshold force, and to remain in fixed position, thereby tensioning the torsion spring and retaining the drive member in fixed position when the force acting on the drive member is equal to or exceeds the threshold force.

A plurality of electrodes are deployed on the catheter, the electrodes being configured to transfer radiofrequency (RF) ablation energy to tissue of the organ. The apparatus also includes a power supply configured to supply the RF ablation energy at a level of up to 100 W to each of the plurality of electrodes simultaneously, so as to ablate respective sections of the tissue of the organ in contact with the electrodes.

摘要: A hand control assembly for an intravascular catheter system includes a controller and a plurality of spaced apart hand-actuated members. The intravascular catheter system includes a control console that is configured to be positioned on a support surface. Each hand-actuated member is configured to be manually actuated and is positioned away from the control console and support surface. The hand control assembly controls varying stages of an ablation procedure, including an inflation stage, ablation stage, thawing stage and/or time to isolation. Each hand-actuated member sends at least one (i) initiation signal to the controller to initiate at least one of the inflation stage, ablation stage and/or a calculation of time to isolation, and/or (ii) termination signal to the controller to terminate at least one of the inflation stage, ablation stage and/or thawing stage.
