摘要: A portable sampler, the sampler including a sampler assembly having a housing that includes a receiver defined therein for interchangeably receiving a number of removable inlet assemblies, the removable inlet assemblies including a respirable inlet assembly and a thoracic inlet assembly. The respirable inlet assembly includes a hybrid cyclone assembly, the hybrid cyclone assembly including an impaction stage and a cyclone in series. The thoracic inlet assembly includes an inlet slot configured to function as a size-selective inlet. Another thoracic inlet assembly includes a housing having a number of openings configured to receive a sample airflow; an inlet insert through which an inlet aperture is defined; a prequalification chamber defined between a lower surface of the housing and an upper surface of the inlet insert; and a protrusion extending downward from the lower surface of the housing into the inlet aperture of the inlet insert to from an inlet slot.

摘要: A method comprising at least one light source configured to generate a light of at least one wavelength and project the light over an optical path, a sample device, the device containing a sample obtained from exhalation of a person, a vortex mask configured to receive the light after the light passes through at least a portion of the sample device, the vortex mask including a series of concentric circles etched in a substrate, the vortex mask configured to provide destructive interference of coherent light received from the at least one light source, a detector configured to detect and measure wavelength intensities from the light in the optical path, the wavelength intensities being impacted by the light passing through the sample, the detector receiving the light that remained after passing through the vortex mask, and a processor configured to provide measurement results based on the wavelength intensities.

摘要: A device, system and method for collecting and eluting aerosol particles contained in a breath sample of a human or animal for the purpose of sampling non-volatile respiratory pathogens present in the breath sample. In at least some embodiments, the present invention provides such a device, system and method to collect, preserve, concentrate and release pathogen-specific biomarkers from breath aerosols for the subsequent analysis with immunoassays and molecular assays for the clinical diagnosis of respiratory tract infections in humans. The sampling device comprises an aqueous solution dissolvable polymer membrane installed in a housing of the sampling device in the flow path of the breath aerosol that sorbs the aerosol particles. The sampling device further comprises an engagement means for releasably engaging an elution device to the housing for introducing an aqueous solution into the housing and for dissolving the polymer membrane upon contact with the aqueous solution.

The system includes a portable measurement device that analyzes fluid samples and generates corresponding measurements. The portable measurement device communicates with an application which runs on a smartphone or other mobile device of the user. The application tracks, and generates graphs of, the measurements, and may include various features for facilitating the analysis of the measurements.

摘要: The present invention relates to an ex vivo method and means for determining the risk estimate of side effects of a drug and/or probability estimate of drug response in a subject, the method comprising collecting the mass spectra of substances present in the exhaled breath and analyzing the mass spectra using a previously trained mathematical model. The instant methods and means are particularly useful in therapeutic drug monitoring, determining the risk estimate of side effects of a drug, determining the probability estimate of drug response in the subject, and determination of subject compliance.
