摘要: Disclosed herein is a method for electrical nerve (510) stimulation, the method comprising: generating an electrical stimulation pattern (100) comprising a plurality of successive pulse trains (110), wherein each pulse train (110) has a pulse train amplitude (111); delivering the electrical stimulation pattern (100) to a subject's hypoglossal nerve (510) with a stimulator (300) having at least one electrode (310); modulating the electrical stimulation pattern (100), wherein modulation of the electrical stimulation pattern (100) comprises gradually increasing the pulse train amplitude (111) from one pulse train (110) to a successive pulse train (110) at stimulation onset (101) until a determined target stimulation amplitude (130) is reached; characterized in that modulation of the electrical stimulation pattern (100) further comprises decreasing the target stimulation amplitude (130) to a defined step-down amplitude (140) within each pulse train (110) after the target stimulation amplitude (130) was reached.

摘要: A device for conveying power from a location external to a subject to a location within the subject may include a flexible carrier and an adhesive on a first side of the carrier. A coil of electrically conductive material may be associated with the flexible carrier. A mechanical connector may be associated with the carrier opposite the adhesive, wherein the mechanical connector is configured to retain a housing and permit the housing to rotate relative to the flexible carrier. At least one electrical portion may be associated with the carrier in a manner permitting electrical connection to be maintained between the flexible carrier and the housing as the housing is rotated.

摘要: A medical device control unit is provided. The control unit may include a communications interface, a memory, and at least one processing device. The processing device may be configured to cause application of a control signal to a primary antenna associated with a unit external to a subject's body. The processing device may further be configured to monitor a feedback signal indicative of the subject's breathing and store, in the memory, information associated with the feedback signal. The processing device may also cause transmission of the stored information, via the communications interface, to a location remote from the control unit. The processing device may further be configured to receive an update signal, from the location remote from the control unit, and cause application of an updated control signal to the primary antenna based on the update signal.

The implant delivery tool may include a body, a holder disposed at a distal end of the body and adapted to hold an implant unit, and an implant activator associated with the body, the implant activator configured to receive power from a power source. The implant activator may be configured to selectively and wirelessly transfer power from the power source to the implant unit during implantation of the implant unit into the body of a subject to cause modulation of at least one nerve in the body of the subject, and determine a degree of nerve modulation response resulting from the selective and wireless transfer of power from the power source to the implant unit claims.

摘要: An implant unit configured for implantation into a body of a subject is provided. The implant unit may include a flexible carrier unit including a central portion and two elongated arms extending from the central portion, an antenna, located on the central portion, configured to receive a signal, at least one pair of electrodes arranged on a first elongated arm of the two elongated arms. The at least one pair of electrodes may be adapted to modulate a first nerve. The elongated arms of the flexible carrier may be configured to form an open ended curvature around a muscle with the nerve to be stimulated within an arc of the curvature.

摘要: A neuromodulation device is provided. The neuromodulation device may include a carrier configured for implantation in a subject, the carrier including a first elongated arm and a second elongated arm, each extending from a central portion of the carrier. The device may further include a first pair of modulation electrodes arranged on the first elongated arm, a second pair of modulation electrodes arranged on the second elongated arm. The carrier may be sized and shaped for implantation in a vicinity of a hypoglossal nerve to be modulated such that the first pair of modulation electrodes is located to modulate a first hypoglossal nerve on a first side of the subject and the second pair of modulation electrodes is located to modulate a second hypoglossal nerve on a second side of the subject.

摘要: A medical device may be configured to transmit energy from a position outside of a subject's body to a position inside the subject's body. The device may include a flexible substrate having a thickness of between 5 and 100 micrometers and a flexible antenna comprising between 10 and 15 windings on a first surface of the flexible substrate, the antenna having a transmission frequency of between 6.4 to 8.3 MHz, and wherein the antenna is configured to transmit energy to a penetration depth of at least 1 cm into the subject's body. The device may also include an adhesive disposed on at least one surface of the flexible substrate for adhering to skin of the subject.

摘要: A sleep apnea treatment device may include a flexible carrier configured to be implanted in a body of a subject. The device may also include at least one electrode disposed on the flexible carrier, the at least one electrode being configured to modulate nerve fibers of the subject. A flexible antenna may be disposed on the flexible carrier, the flexible antenna electrically connected to the at least one electrode in a manner permitting at least some energy received by the flexible antenna to be transferred to the at least one electrode. The flexible antenna may include: at least a first conductive trace arranged on a first side of the flexible carrier, the at least a first conductive trace defining at least a first elongated space between portions thereof; and at least a second conductive trace arranged on a second side of the flexible carrier, the at least a second conductive trace defining at least a second elongated space between portions thereof, wherein the at least a first conductive trace is at least partially offset from the at least a second conductive trace such that portions of the first conductive trace overly the at least a second elongated space and wherein portions of the second conductive trace underlay the at least a first elongated space.
