摘要: Apparatus (20) for treating an intervertebral disc (30) of a subject is provided. The apparatus (20) includes at least three intra-pulposus exposed electrode surfaces (40), which are configured to be implanted within a nucleus pulposus (42) of the disc (30), at different respective locations; and one or more extra-pulposus exposed electrode surfaces (44), which are configured to be implanted outside the nucleus pulposus (42), in electrical communication with the disc (30). Control circuitry (50) is configured to (a) configure the intra-pulposus exposed electrode surfaces (40) to be cathodes, and the one or more extra-pulposus exposed electrode surfaces (44) to be one or more anodes, and (b) drive the intra-pulposus exposed electrode surfaces (40) and the one or more extra-pulposus exposed electrode surfaces (44) to electroosmotically drive fluid into the nucleus pulposus (40) to increase pressure in the disc (30).

摘要: A computing device executes a software program that communicates various deep brain stimulation (DBS) routines to a neurostimulator. The software program generates a graphical user interface (GUI) that receives inputs that are indicative of a patient's response to the various DBS routines. The GUI further includes a representation of each of one or more electrode leads that are connected to the neurostimulator. Based on the patient response inputs, one or more symbols that are indicative of an effectiveness of the stimulation routines are displayed at positions on the lead representations that correspond to parameters of the stimulation routines.

摘要: An example of a system may include electrodes on at least one lead configured to be operationally positioned for use in modulating neural tissue. The neural tissue may include at least one of dorsal horn tissue, dorsal root tissue or dorsal column tissue. The system may include an implantable device including a neural modulation device and a controller. The neural modulation device may be configured to use at least some of the electrodes to generate a modulation field to deliver sub-perception modulation to the neural tissue. The sub-perception modulation may have an intensity below a patient-perception threshold. The patient-perception threshold may be a boundary below which a patient does not sense generation of the modulation field. The controller may be configured to control the neural modulation device to generate the modulation field, and automatically adjust the modulation field in response to a patient input.

摘要: This document discusses medical device for coupling to a plurality of implantable electrodes. The medical device includes a therapy circuit configured to deliver electrical neurostimulation energy to the plurality of implantable electrodes; and a control circuit operatively coupled to the therapy circuit. The control circuit is configured to: initiate delivery of bursts of pulses of the electrical neurostimulation energy to the plurality of the implantable electrodes, wherein pulses within a burst include an intra-pulse period; change a combination of electrodes used to deliver the bursts of pulses according to an inter-burst period between bursts; and change the inter-burst period during the delivery of the electrical neuromodulation energy.
