    Abstract: An apparatus for correcting bunion deformity includes an elongated member, a first arm member extending from a first end to a second end, a second arm member, and a rotation guide. The first arm member has an arm axis and is coupled to the first end of the elongated member so that the arm axis extends in an orthogonal direction from the elongated member. The second arm member includes an attachment portion configured to translatably engage the elongated member and an extension extending in the same orthogonal direction as the first arm member. The rotation guide is coupled to the first arm member such that the rotation guide is configured to rotate with respect to the first arm member about a rotation axis, the rotation guide defining a bore having a longitudinal axis.

    Abstract: A method to remove a memory metal orthopedic staple from that is implanted in a bone repair site is disclosed. The orthopedic staple is in its relaxed state and the method includes (a) attaching an inserter tool/cartridge assembly to the orthopedic staple's bridge portion; (b) actuating the inserter tool to change the orthopedic staple from its relaxed state to its insertion state in which the two legs of the orthopedic staple are substantially parallel to each other; and (c) removing the orthopedic staple from the bone repair site.

    Abstract: A wedge osteotomy method inserts a first wire into a first bone of the foot, distal from tissue to be removed. A second wire is inserted into a second bone, so the tissue to be removed is distal from the second wire. A cut guide is pivoted about the first wire, until a first axis of the cut guide is parallel with a longitudinal axis of the first metatarsal. The cut guide has a slot perpendicular to the first axis for guiding a cutter to cut bone, while the first axis is aligned with the longitudinal axis of the first metatarsal. The cut guide is then pivoted about the second wire, until the first axis is aligned with the longitudinal axis of the talus, and bone is cut through the slot, to form a second planar cut into or through bone material.
